Korean people have inadvertently taught me alot, about myself and about others. What have you learnt while staying in Korea? Has Korea made you a better person? |

In terms of learning what it's like to be a minority, instead of a majority, yes.
Maybe the question should not be a 'better' person but a 'different person'
In Korea I wear my Korean hat, shut up, trust no-one and watch my back.
Back home I wear my home hat, relax, more trusting, less cynical. |

Like the previous poster, I was much less bitter, angry and cynical back home. Being on the other end of racism (as a white person) has made me this way I think. |

I'd like to think it's made me, or at least will make me, more pro-active when standing up against injustices, bigotry or prejudice, and helping out those less fortunate than me. I've always been aware of injustices back home and been concerned about them, but usually not done enough to confront them and help those who need help. Hopefully, Korea has taught to be more pro-active in this regard as I'm now more strongly aware of what it's like to be on the wrong side of the equation. |

In a word, yes.
Because Korean culture is so radically different from ours, it has given me a much wider and more complete view of human nature and human behaviour. I think this has translated into me being more tolerant of peoples differences, having a thicker skin, being more comfortable with conflict, and being more self sufficient.
It has also made me much more culturally conservative and more appreciative of where I come from.
All in all, things here have been pretty good. |

My wife told me I already turned into a Korean.
Go figure. |

Yes and No
YES
1) I am now a completely low-key Canadian. Korea has taught me that their are A LOT of Canadian wankers roaming this planet.
2) I was never bad to minorites back home before, but I'll definitely be better now
NO
1) I am often bitter, angry, and all together pissed off cuz of the stupidity of this country. |

I despise it when people describe me as "Korean."
Typical conversation:
Boss: Oh did you eat lunch?
Me: Yeah, of course. What do I look like, an anorexic?
Boss: he he ha - what did you (eat[This word tends to be omitted])?
Me: Seol Lung Tang
Boss: Oh it's your favorite? You are already Korean.
Me: Eating something once doesn't make it my favorite, and last I checked I wasn't wearing a white suit with a pink tie and I didn't fire the third receptionist in less than a month.
Boss: Have a good time. |

Yes.
It's made me more pro-active, more open-minded, more patient, and a better communicator. |
