Ahhh, we're the photographer and the musician never invited to play hockey with the cool kids? Must have been sad sitting through high school with no more than 2 or 3 friends and nothing to do on the weekend but take pictures and listen to crappy, unheard of "angry" music. I'm surprised neither of you were never involved in any Columbine-style shoot up. Must have been mommy and daddy didn't have enough money to buy you guns.
I know. Sports, friends, treating people with respect, trying new things: these are all foreign words to "artisits". |
Do you hate hockey? If not, no posting in this thread. This is "For those who hate hockey, only." |
I hate "field" hockey. Does that count? |

You know why hockey sucks? Hockey players don't fake injuries like soccer players do-soccer takes diving to a whole new level.
Hockey also sucks because, yes, there have been hockey riots, but nowhere near the fatalaties of soccer fans getting caught up in the passion of soccer.
There you go |

I don't like sports in general ... especially violent competitive sports. An old high school teacher of mine used to say that hockey and other violent sports were ways of training kids for war. (He was a funny old guy. )

Jinju hates hockey because the ice hockey blades keep ripping his blow-up doll. He does enjoy figure skating however; it's the sequins and package hugging outfits.
I hate hockey because there were never any accessible rinks around anywhere I have lived and never gave an awesome looking sport a fair crack. |

They are a substitute for war-but not soccer-soccer with its fan riots and fake injuries for extra time is "beautiful" |

So... you hate hockey because there weren't rinks around your place, but you think it is awesome looking? That's confusing. |

if you're having trouble seeing the puck, the problem is that you're "missing the forest for the trees"... let me explain...
you're absolutely right: most of the time, the puck is not visible because it's either on a player's stick blade (purposely covered with black tape), along the near boards, or moving too quickly...
the trick to following the game is to watch the flow of the players, i.e. where they are going/looking, rather than the puck itself... i know this sounds counterintuitive but one of the main reasons why the best player in the history of the game (Gretzky) was so great was because he anticipated where the puck would be, rather than simply reacting to where the puck was...
i don't mean to be condescending, i realize that this is a big issue for many potential hockey fans and i want to share my insights into a great sport...
p.s. hockey sucks |

Who were the "cool kids"? Looking back at highschool, the cool kids ended up nobodies with nothing to offer. I always avoided the so called cool kids, the mindless loser jocks.

Not at all. I had friends who had 3 digit IQs all on their own, they didnt need a collective group to get to 3 digits. Far more interesting than idiots whose lives revolved around Tie Domi and Dougie Gilmour. |

As opposed to having one's life revolve around Roger Federer?
Just for jinjurious: hockey+pandas

That was an excellent explanation, Ernie, thanks - surprising you say Hockey sucks though considering you seem very knowledgeable. |
