Art supply stores, especially if they're near a uni or college should have them. I don't know what they're called, and when I went looking for one, it resulted in the crudest looking game of charades ever (I'd been there about 3 months) I ran around the store till I saw something along the lines of what I had in mind.
The one I have is solid black plastic, with a strap, and maybe 4 inches in diameter. Yes, I mailed it home, though they made me cover it in packing tape first |

I bought the same one Peppermint has, black plastic. I got it at the big Dream Depot art store at Express Bus Terminal but I'm sure any large art shop would have them. It was near the art portfolio carrying cases, etc. |

OP- I dealt with the same issue. Peppermint (if that is your REAL name ) is correct. Try art supply stores. That's where I FINALLY found one. |

or do what I did ...go to an Alpha (or other office supply store) that sells the large sheets of paper/felt on rolls. There's usually a display stand of different papers inthe back. Check back there and see if they have an empty roll on display or a near empty roll. If there's an empty one take it off the display stand and ask if you can take it. Most of the time they'll let you since it saves them throwing it out.
The ends will be open so you'll need to jerry-rig something with cardboard and tape but it'll be solid enough to mail. It might be too long so you may have to cut it to size with a box cutter or pack other things into it. You can always roll clothes into one end but that might make it a little too heavy. |
