yes, i am not avid about writing speeches for students. when i was a student studying chinese the thought of the teacher writing a speech for a student would have been absurd. however, such is exactly what i have been tasked to do: write a speech for a student because he is too busy and the contest is coming up soon.
anyway- anywhere on the web where i can just lift a two minute speech from an "open" source? |

I've written speeches in the past as favours. I came to realize that it's not what I wrote that was important, but how it was spoken by the student. Write whatever! Or don't write at all! |

I agree. If you do write something, put in where to pause, when to use extra stress, when to use body language, etc.. This is what the judges will be looking for, and there's a good chance their English level won't be good enough to recognize the 'academic' quality of the speech you write. |
