I was waiting for someone to say that. And yes it is.
Sure I do small clean-ups but I just want one big super duper clean every now and then.
Plus I don't have the resources and can't be assed going and buying them.

So where are the numbers to look for?

Your reasons for wanting a housekeeper are no one's business but your own, especially not condescending, holier-than-thou Dave's posters. If you want to sit on your @ss all day long while paying someone to do even the most menial things around your apartment, who cares?

Myself, I am interviewing a Filipina today who is looking for work, for a couple of hours every week. If it works out, I'll give you her number. Also, there's another informative thread on the subject here on Dave's, just search for "housekeeper".

Good luck!

And heartily seconded from the Robot & Reedtea.

We have a larger apartment, and are both fairly busy. Even working together, there are some jobs we just plain don't like - such as the floors, or ironing.

What we spend to have someone come in a few hours a week, for both regular cleaning & special projects (like helping to cook or prepare for a house party, or whatnot) are well worth it, in our opinion.

How really, really nice it is to come in once a week to a fresh, ultra-clean house, with no laundry to do, and adobo or sinagang simmering on the stove, and a pleasant smile!!!

We will tell you - do expect to purchase the supplies, or give her some money to do the same. Do also ask about her transpo needs. If it is a Filipina, don't ask/expect her to come in on Sunday.

As to where to find one, you haven't told us where you are located. The classified rags, newspapers, and used English book stores all work well. Also, a church can be useful, if you know of one where the particular flavor of help you are looking for attends.

Also, through our housekeeper, we located an AWESOME guy who did electrical and plumbing work (our landlord is great about everything 'normal,' but we had some extra projects) for us.

The combinations of pleasant attitudes, hard work ethic, and little to no language barriers sold us on the concept a couple of years ago. I wish I had done it back when I was living in Ch'angwon (but that was before I was 1/2 of a couple, with a zoo, in a big apartment).

Regards,

Glen

ummmmmmm - adobo! Very Happy

In the Haebongcheon/Itaewon area...

My maid (and her sister) have given me these two numbers..I think they're both theirs, but I would try the second one first.

010 6872 0241

010 8671 9716

They are filipina, and they do everything...except laundry, even though you could probably ask if you really wanted to. They charge 20-30k, depending on the size of your place. And they're really trustworthy - I'm usually not here when they're cleaning, and if I ever leave money out, they always stack it up...even a little 10 won coin they find under the sofa.

Anyways, they're nice people. I'd definitely recommend them.

Thank heavens for global economic disparity or we'd have to devote our powerful intellects to menial labor instead of posting on dave's.

Yeah, but most of them are just snide, hastily-written insults.

I highly doubt they like cleaning up after the other prostitute who probably dirtied his place first! hhahahahhahaha

What area do you live in? You can find names posted on the WhatTheBook board sometimes, as well as many in that blackmarket-like store in Hannam-Dong next to the volvo dealership.

If you work at a Hagwon, I would ask your boss. Usually they have someone who cleans already, and may know of a service to hire from. We got our cleaner that way. 4 hrs for 30,000won and she even organized all my clothing in the closet! Neatly folded and stacked by sleeve lengths and color! I didn't even mention it, but she was done cleaning after 2 hours and was bored I guess!
