|
|
If I recall the Jongno/Insadong branch which is now in the SK Hub building used to not offer the full range of immi services. Ie you couldn't go there to get your ARC card (yeah I know) etc. It was good if you wanted to get your multi entry, however. But now it appears to offer the same services as the branch out in Mokdong. So no more 45 minute line 5 rides out there, the long walk to immi, etc. However, not everyone can use this office. It's only for those north river. |

Oh boy. You've stumped me on both. I would imagine it's based on where you live. Given how crowded it was today compared to back when it was only there for reentry visas, I would say it's pretty much the full service. I went in for my e2 extension but I saw people clearly applying for their ARC. |

Do you know when it became full service?
My boyfriend went there just two weeks ago to get his ARC processed (he lives and works North of the river) and he was told he couldn't get it done there, and had to go to the Mokdong location. He was none too pleased about the situation.
If it's true, it would certainly be much less hassle, but if so, it must be VERY recent, because as of two weeks ago, it wasn't possible. |

That IS weird - I was there about 3 weeks ago for 2 hours, and I saw a ton of people picking up their ARCs.
At least immi in MokDong is quieter than this new-ish (well, at least by my observations). |

It's Anguk station, which is very close to me. I dreaded that Omogyo trek for years. |

Well that's really weird. I wonder why the guy there told him he couldn't get it done there.
I know I'm remembering it correctly, cause it made him frustrated enough that he phoned me to vent about it. The guy there looked at all his paperwork, photos, etc., and said that he couldn't get his ARC there, he had to go to Mokdong.
Very strange. Perhaps it was just someone who didn't know any better, and sent him away to avoid looking stupid for not knowing? |

Exit 6 at Anguk. Right across from the Girl Scouts/Girl Guide's Seoul HQ. |

I got my ARC in Sept. 2006, over a year ago, at the Anguk Station/Insadong office! |

I was unsure before I went there, so I searched for website confirmation and didn't find any. The English immigration website still only shows the Mokdong office. The Korean version, of course, lists all their branch offices, but doesn't specify where which services are provided (at least not that I could decipher). But I went today and had no problems, other than a rather long wait. (I also live and work in the North. Don't know if that matters or not.) |

Yeah it would seem the secret it out. No short wait times anymore. But then again no traveling the length of the city and then that long walk to the office. Pop out exit 6. Boom. |

If you get a Korean speaker/reader to help you, you can make a reservation online and when you get there: Bam! Front of the line! There's even a reservations window for you to go to. |

Get off at Anguk exit 6
Building is straight ahead
Some orientation:
Opposite side of the street is the Girl Scout HQ:
Got there last week at 11:30 am and had to wait until 2 pm. This time I go there at 9:30 am and was out by 10 am. |

It depends on where you live in Seoul -- those living in certain districts still have to go to Mokdong; others can go to this office. It is not a strict "South-North" split, however. |
