I'm sure it varies place to place, but in general, would you consider a University Language Institute better or worse than a public school job? What if the pay were higher @ the language institute? |

I should add, that I think the university one may look better on a resume if/when one returns to the US/wherever. |

It really really depends on the place. I worked at an LEC, my working hours were 20 a week (same as a public school), I didn't have to be there when I didn't have classes, and I had 10 weeks vacation. I think that was better than most public school jobs. On the other hand, some LECs are no better than a hagwon.
If it's important to you, you will be working with other foreigners at an LEC, but not if you are at a public school.
If you want a better uni job after then working at a University LEC will probably give you more relevant experience which might be helpful when applying for better jobs in the future.
In short, there is no correct answer to your question. It depends on the public school and the LEC. |
