How do I do it? And get a LOR? There are numerous contract violations, I have to make photocopies everyday for every student because they don't have books, and so on. You can guess the rest. Please give me good ideas. Thanks in advance. |

why not quit on good terms, give notice, and ask for the LOR? if you quit/get fired on bad terms, i think it'll be even harder to get them to give you an LOR.
if you can't get an LOR that way, and you really want to get fired and odn't care about an LOR, i think you can figure out a good way to accomplish that. |

They've done every textbook sleazy thing a crapwon can do, and unfortunately, I look like a good teacher and they won't just let me go easily. They make too much money because of me. |

Be late and very rude, but it's probably best to walk away from a job you hate than to make a big ugly scene.
Just quit if you really are not willing to work the contract out. It's common to have to do a lot of unpaid prep in a hagwon in an office with only one copier and one printer that are down regularly and never loaded with paper. This nerves me, but it's to my understanding, it's common for schools to lack facilities, supplies, and books. The quality of education is not taken seriously, but the many scheduled hours are serious business since that is what rakes in the dough.
You might consider finishing what you started if they are paying you and you are at least 6 months into the contract. I just remind myself many times each day that I only have a few months left, not years of this dull and meaningless existence. |

Thank you. I always feel like I'm the only one who feels that way, about the dull and meaningless existence. Some of the teachers I work with and some on here are always saying "In my classroom I do....and it works." They don't say anything as our hours are extended and we are nickel and dimed. They don't mind paying too many taxes and not getting their pension. While more and more meaningless work is dumped on us and our students to make the parents happy. I keep thinking a PS job will be better because everything won't be about money. Am I wrong? And I have 8 more months to go. |

That would be fun to pull an Office Space. However, the LoR is issued at their pleasure. I think there are steps you can take to null your own visa. |

Yes - this has to be your foremost concern. Getting your visa cancelled is an absolute necessity if you wish to get a new visa before your current contract is set to expire. How far into your contract are you? |

"I don't want to work here anymore. Here's my letter of resignation. Sign this copy and sign this one. There's my one-month notice. You better look for another teacher now." Then go to immigration to let them know you're changing jobs.
That's what you do. |

I've done that more than once. They say "No, your good teacher, the students like you...." I give them my reasons, they are okay for maybe a week, and then it's back to the same BS. It's not going to change. So how do you become undesirable? |

Ask for a meeting between your boss and the second in command. Talk to them in a calm manner. Present the letter of release as soon as you sit down in the chair.

Though the school sounds bad, it is nice to be appreciated. It is also a good feeling to know you are bringing good business to a school. Unfortunately, the person receiving those funds sounds like an idiot.
How about an ultimatium? Tell him you want books for kids, tell him what he has been doing illegal and you want it to end. |
