Do they not have any dishwashers or clothes dryers in this country? I live in Mokpo (Jeollanamdo).

I have never seen any, but it's possible that the wealthy such as Chaebol families have them in their big fancy homes and that you may be able to buy them in Seoul. This is only a thought, I have never actually seen a dishwasher or cloths dryer in Korea. Funny thing, in all the other countries outside of America I visited, I didn't see these 2 appliances anywhere, not even in Germany. The Germans hang their clothing on a cloths rack in the living room just the same as we do here.
When I told my relatives in the US that ovens and dishwashers are extremely rare outside the US, they just couldn't hardly believe it as they are common amenities. I am used to living without these as I was very poor during and after college. I would say, the American military bases are the only places that have the amenities of a western country, but these are off limits. (shucks)
I wouldn't bother with the cost of buying appliances in a foreign country, unless you are planning to stay indefinitely. |

| Yes, my husband and I will most likely be here for years. We're thinking of having kids here so it'd be great to have a dishwasher and clothes dryer. |

Yes, they do. Locally, they are referred to as "wives". |

| There are diswashers in Korea, but they are smaller than the ones in N. America and you might not recognize it as a D.W. Get a K-friend or coworker to take you to an appliance shop like Hi-Mart. |

Agreed. The women do tend to be a little smaller. |

| I have a dishwasher in my apartment, it was built in as an option, I choose to have it. But no dryer. I was told they use up to much electricity. |

They have both - lol.. I actually thought the replies were a joke, but I realised that you guys are being serious.
They have the standard dishwasher for 12 people, or they have the smaller ones for 6. Space is limited on this peninsular and you will find that a lot of the appliances that are of *standard size* to us are actually too big for Korea. A dishwasher, standard size, is around 500K.
Clothes dryer is also available. Standard size. I almost bought an AEG 2 years ago, it was 1.5m... but that was when we were not sure if we were coming or going.. (our daughter was just born and I really wanted to move back home), so I didn't bother and now we have a washer/dryer combo. Samsung one. 700K or so. I am not sure how much a stand-alone dryer costs these days, may be 1m? |

Actually my husband always does the dishes and I'm wanting to get a dishwasher to relieve him of this duty |
