I had to do a lot of traveling on the 7 line, which has the nicest stations and newest trains and much less crowded.

the number 2 is hell. same goes for the #4 myungdong express :/ try to avoid those if possible in the busy times.

The number 1 line west of Guru towards Incheon pisses me off to no end on many days. At night, it's packed solid (particulary the express train). Same deal in the morning (though rarely a problem that comes up for me). There comes a time when someone should go "ok, the trains are packed full. WHY DON'T WE RUN MORE TRAINS INSTEAD OF ONE EVERY TEN MINUTES AND AN EXPRESS TRAIN EVERY 15 MINUTES? YOU KNOW, LIKE ALL THE OTHER LINES." Especially since they have four sets of tracks. Pin a medal on me and call he a genius.

The afternoons piss me off the most because it's one train every 12 minutes. What the hell is up with that? I can spend more time waiting for the #1 than I do riding on it.

I do the line #1 thing 3-4 nights a week. The good part is I go into Seoul when everyone else is leaving it; the Yongsan train is pretty empty 8-9 PM. Now if I have to come back that same night, yuck... But generally I am able to come back in the morning when everyone is headed the opposite direction.

Reverse commute is a good thing. Unfortunately there is no such thing Sat. and Sunday.

The #1 line certainly sucks. There is a total lack of any type of sign to tell you where you are, in Korean or english. If it is crowded enough that you can't move, it is hard to know where you are.

Transfering sucks too. A total lack of clearly labeled seems to exist too.

The #3 line is bad for crowding too. I live a few stops from the end of the line, and on saturday if I am heading into Seoul, I usually have to stand. It is already packed up.

All you whiners>just be glad we have a subway here that will relatively take you anywhere you need to be.

Anyone who is from Vancouver will probably agree with me when I say the transit system there really needs a makeover.

True! We should appreciate the fact that transit isn't too bad here. I've calmed down from that subway experience now. Lord knows I should be used to it by now. I just suddenly got claustrophobic that day.

The number 2 line is horrid. Always crowded. Line 4 (my main one) isn't a heck of a lot better, 'specially around Sadang.

Cheers!

Here's my lack of sleep contribution.
Last week I was feeling very sick in the stomach and it was one of those, "Ok I just have to survive this subway for 20 minutes" and luckily it was pretty packed so I hid near the doorway. I think I looked drugged or something, and I wasn't moving much for people getting in and out. Then when I got out at my stop I tripped up the stairs. ha ha
Ahem.
