Hi all,
I have been to China a couple of times now and have used the same guide. He now has a website.
http://www.frankschinatours.com
His English is as close to fluent as you can find. He is honest. And he can plan a trip pretty much anywhere you want that is possible in China. He has many connections and has got me on a list so I can go to Lhasa in Tibet in May on the new railway. This is through a connection he has in Beijing.
He can handle large groups or will do personal tours as small as 2 or 3. He will be as economical as you want or as extravagant as you want. His knowledge of Chinese history is good and he is a great guide in the museums and is very patient. He does not mind shopping and will not take you to places that rip you off. He is great bargain hunter and will make sure you are safe.
I can not say enough good things about this guide. If you are ever interested in taking a tour in China but might be little nervous about doing alone or perhaps want to take your family to China this is your guide.
I saved a lot of money using him as my guide and have had two trips to China that were economical and memorable and adventure of a lifetime!
Sorry if you think I am gushing but anyone who wants more information PM me and I will send you pics of my trip and more information.
He will quote you fair prices and tailors your tour for you or your group. I HAVE NO FINANCIAL INTEREST IN THIS JUST THIS GUY IS SUPER GUIDE AT SUPER PRICE!

How are his prices? I just spent some time with a tour operator and quickly found out his prices were about 3 times as much as any youth hostel tour. How much was your trip to the great wall by the way? |

It honestly depends on what you want for 4 days I gave him about a little under 300 dollars and that fee included the hotel and his services for 4 days and entrance fees to the zoo, great wall, and summer palace, capital museum. He will take you shopping where every you want. There is a great curio market and antique market and the prices for things are very very inexpensive. Not really that popular with tourists as the streets are narrow and they don't allow busses. Most just rickshaws. A month would discounted as the time is longer. In china it is easier to plan for long trips. And he can work with your budget.
I opted for a flash hotel which is why the price was a bit higher. Send him an email and tell him what you want and he will send you price. You can use him for the parts of China that are not as well travelled. The problem in china is that some tour guides are tied into taking you to certain places to shop and eat and stay. He is a not affiliated with a large company so he doesn't have to do this. He has been doing this for over 20 years as a free agent. He is a good guide for Hutong (old beijing) area since it is being refurbished he still knows what is open and where to shop and eat.
The great wall you must see! Also the summer palace. Both a bit hard to get to and it helps if you have guide.
He is also an English Teacher so this isn't his only source of income.

He will answer your email right away and tell him what you want and he will help you find a price range. And if he can't he will tell you someone who can.
Btw he will meet you at the airport and make sure you get to your hotel safely.

sounds fantastic. we were just planning on doing it alone, but since its our first trip to china, and the first country on our tour of asia, it might take the pressure of somewhat if we had someone showing us around.
i'll email him & keep you posted. |

If anybody is planning to go to Beijing, pm me. I have info on where to stay which is very convienient to everything and some tips on getting around. I didn't need a tour guide and found my way around the city fairly easily without much expense for 9 days. |
