Sometime near October 17th I will be heading to Shanghai. I'm not really a touristy place kinda person but I would like to see the Acrobat show. I was wondering though, how much can I get by on in Shanghai for about 4 days? And is it possible to see the Great Wall, and most importantly how much would that cost? I heard the only way is to take a train to Beijing for 12 hours... blah. Anyways, any help would be appreciated.
Oh, also, do you know what the weather is like then, and are there any beaches worth visiting?

I do not mean to be rude so please don't take this the wrong way or as a flame but do you know where Shanghai is? Have you looked at a map of China or did you just book the trip on the basis of the name?

The Great Wall of China is a series of stone and earthen fortifications in China, built, rebuilt, and maintained between the 5th century BC and the 16th century to protect the northern borders of the
Chinese Empire.

Shanghai ... situated on the banks of the Yangtze River Delta in East China, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanghai
is a long way from the Great Wall.

No offence taken~
Anyways I know what you are saying which is why I meant in ANYWAY is it possible to visit the wall of China~ it just might be nice to see something so famous while I go. My purpose is just a cheap trip out of Korea for a while and I was quoted a very cheap price but Im not sure if its worth my time to go... anyways could you answer any of my other questions?

The weather should be nice - but no guarantee because it is still in the typhoon season. TY KROSA http://severe.worldweather.org/tc/wnp/ is one storm you may want to keep an eye on.

I can't tell you much about the beaches but there is nothing nice that is close to the city. You have a huge river dumping silt into the sea so it tends to be murky. It is a lot like HongKong - big, bustling, shopping and business.

The nightlife is pretty good but swimming, sunning and surfing are not on the list of highlights.

The great wall is NOT a realistic trip from there on a 4 day getaway (kind of like going to LA and making a quick side trip over to Lake Tahoe).

The only way you could do it is to fly from Shanghai to Beijing, spend the night in Beijing, wake up early the next day and go to the wall, then fly back that night to Shanghai. It's possible, but if you want to see the wall, then just fly into and stay in Beijing. Shanghai is nice, but there's not much to do there besides eat, drink, and shop. 4 days would be pushing it in Shanghai. Beijing has plenty to do for more than a week.

I agree, Shanghai would be a lovely place to live and parts of it are quite scenic, but my 3 days there were plenty. Beijing has gobs more to do/see, including the wall.
