Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if they've seen any stores selling adult Halloween costumes in Seoul? It's coming up and I'm starting to panic! Thanks in advance.

There is a Partypia (party supply store) about two blocks north of Ewha subway station that sells some Halloween costumes, but last year the selection wasn't great. It's better than a kick in the pants or a punch in the face but it would be nice to hear from others who have a store with a wider selection that they are aware of.

After the 15th you will find halloween stuff in Home plus, Kims Club, Lotte and Samsung department stores and E-marts - mostly kid stuff but they often have basic witch and vampire costumes for adults.

The event stores have assorted costumes and accessories all year round.

www.halloween.co.kr

Check out this site. They have loads of costumes for rent and sale. Unless they've moved, their store is located near Sadang Station. I'm not sure, but I think they might deliver, as well.

Sadang station, ex. 14. Walk straight until you hit the hospital (2 mins), then turn left. Take first right. The store is on your right, the sign says "Halloween" in English. Its in the basement.

It's a mess, but has lots of stuff. They rent costumes and all that, too, but they're the standard stuff. You can mix and match and make your own, though. Happy hunting!

thanks for the detailed directions. did you mean that the rented costumes are standard rather than the costumes for sale? i'm thinking i'd prefer to buy my own, and am really hoping they have a few which will be fun and somewhat different.

That's a whole lot more Halloween than I expected for there to be in Korea.

Street vendors and some shops in Itaewon are already selling masks and costumes.

The place in Sadang is typically for kids. When I went last year, nothing fit. There is another place in Dongdaemun around Dongdaemun Station (not Stadium). Hard to describe exactly but it's on a street parallel to the canal thing. Not as much variety but better quality and sizes and more expensive.

Anyone have any idea where to find green hair spray like the type that seems to come out every Halloween?

If you want to go as a Korean woman there's this truly terrifying ajumma section of Namdaemun Market. I walked in there by accident once and nearly fainted with the sensory overload of animal print, sequinned happy pants.

I borrowed a neighbor's work clothes and went as a yogurt lady one year. Another friend of a friend dressed up as one of those hunched over halmoni rose sellers...everything was spot on, so much so that when he approached the table to sell some flowers everyone told her (him) to go away. Had no idea it was him till he lifted the ajumma visor and stood up.
