(I tried searching for this, and just got a blank screen)
I�ve already learned a fair amount of the Korean language and that�s the mainly why I wanted to go there instead of China or Japan.
I just don�t want to be lonely there.
I like the culture (from what I know of it) but I�m not obsessed with it. (I love lots of cultures) I worried about the dating situation because most of the single guys from places like Canada, America, England, South America and Australia etc. go there because they are seeking an Asian girlfriend, and I�d probably never get a date with some of those guys. I�ve been told that Asian guys only seek out blonde blue-eyed girls who weigh 95 lbs�because that�s sexy�
So, if I moved there would I be extremely lonely? Is it worth moving there to pay off student loans and other expenses? I want to experience different cultures; I also want to continue dating. |

Not all Western guys go after Korean women or little blonde supermodel types, but based on my observations, most of them do. Does this mean they go after these types exclusively? I can't answer that but think it worthy of consideration.
If it means anything (which it doesn't; it's entirely anecdotal) ex-girlfriend was a fellow Whitie. And I do see Western couples, although they may have been dating before coming here.
One option might be US Army soldiers- I know several Western women dating Army guys. Another option is Korean guys.
What you look like will likely play a factor too, although I'm not sure if it will matter here any more than elsewhere. |

Colorful people would tend to stand out but come to think of it. 99.994% of Asian girls that Asian guys date are not blonde and blue-eyed. I don't see any big deal with that.

I haven't gone halfway round the world to land an Asian girlfriend, on the contrary - I'm expecting a year of sexual solitude. Oh well!
But if there was a western girl who I was attracted to or a Korean girl I'm going to have a relationship but 'landing an Asian girl' isn't even on the barometer of why I'm going to Korea. |

I'll be there for a least a year; I just want to know how I�ll be treated if I go. The guys I know that have gone there, or have done study-abroad in Japan/Korea/China only like asians. I have no idea what all guys like--if I did I wouldn't have to ask.  It is just the impression I've gotten from knowing them and what I've read online.
If a lot of guys are solely doing it for the money I would like to know more about them. Is it a tiny percent? Is it most of them?
I didn't want to make anyone mad, but since it's my life I have to know before I sign a contract.

I'm thinking of myself and 5 other white girls who have Korean boyfriends or husbands. Two are blond, I don't think anyone has blue eyes, and none of us are 95 lbs. Nowhere near it.
Speaking for myself and my closest friend of this group, "Korean girls don't have curves, you do, it's sexy" has been said more than once. Don't know about the other four, but I suspect that's true for most of them, too.

If you want to continue dating, you'll find a way to continue dating. It's really up to you. You know, like the women who claim they want to find a man to marry but do nothing about it? It depends on what you do.
Also, if dating is the only thing that makes you not lonely, you need to reexamine your life. In my opinion. |

Most does not mean all. I haven�t met all guys. It is the impression I�ve gotten from Dave�s and similar sites online. If you have evidence that a large percentage of guys that go to Asian countries don�t prefer Asian girls I�d really like to see that.
That being said, preferring a certain type over another is fine. I know guys that only like one or two types of girls, and when he finds that kind of girl with the right personality, then all the power to him. He�s happy and she�s happy. Nothing wrong with that. |

Of course there is more to life than dating, but I this is something I haven't gotten a real answer about. I weigh 120, and I was told that I would be considered fat over there. That really bothered me, and I don't know any women over there, only men. So I don't have anyone to ask these kinds of questions to. |

| I have seen Korean guys married to western women who were nowhere near what you'd call "skinny", but I still believe that most guys anywhere in the world prefer small, attractive women. I think it would take a Korean guy who is extremely non-traditional to date/marry a big girl, and I have seen cases where a Korean guy dated a big girl just for sex, if you get my drift. When the guy's ex came back in to the pic, the big gal got dumped. I also believe that even if you are a small. attractive western girl, many Korean guys will just date you to use you until they can find a Korean girl who will please their mommy and daddy. As soon as that happens, bye bye foreign girl. |

I know several western girls dating and married to Korean men. Are they knockout women?...well, 1 is, but the others r far from blonde haired, blue eyed, and skinny.
I would suggest not worrying about being lonely. For one, most likely ull be caught up in the euphoric ness of being in a foreign land and busy from working that the first few months will fly right by. And then before u know it 3/4 of the year contract is done. Really, its surprising how fast a year can fly by, and then if ur overwhelmed by loneliness by that time u can go home. That's worst case scenario.
Im sure u can find a nice Korean man for some harmless flirtation. And if u cant, ur in luck, im pretty sure I can pencil u in for a friendly shag! |

| In some cases, I also believe that when a Korean man DOES marry a foreign woman, and she isn't all that attractive, maybe he just gave up on finding a Korean woman, and his family wanted him to get married so badly that they told him, "Ok, find ANY woman". So, he marries a western woman as his second choice. Who wants to be a second choice? And the Korean men I have seen married to western women were not too attractive themselves. Maybe they couldn't get a decent K-girl. |
