I've got one that I haven't seen a thread about lately. Korean music. Sure, you have threads asking for pointers on where to see and hear good music and threads about how much kiggers and Korean boy band's fashion sucks, but never about the actual music itself.

You shoulda been here a few years ago. The board was filled with jeering posts about how Koreans couldn't dance--couldn't/didn't use their hips. The screen would be filled with one white boy band Backstreet Boys wannabes after another, but then one Korean group, and it was, "JFC, can't the Koreans be a little original?"

Bags of Chips....

I fricking hate the way Koreans open up bags of chips!!! (perhaps done in other places too, but I've only noticed it here) They completely rip the entire bag apart. What if I don't want to eat the whole bag? They just ruined the chance of rolling em up and eating them later.

How's that for the pettiest complaint you've heard?

Honestly, it actually really does bug me. It bugs me so much that I have to laugh at myself for being bugged by such an unimportant thing. If my wife and I ever get a divorce, it's gonna be over chips (or her getting an ajjuma perm)

This also bugs the hell out of me Mad
I actually make plans ahead of time to make sure I open up the bags myself to avoid this.

Although every single time a Korean has destroyed the bag, we finish the whole thing off. Maybe I'm overreacting. Or maybe we stuff ourselves knowing we don't have any other choice. Unless we want to waste the chips, which IMO is unthinkable.

It's a toss-up between whining about my dirty apartment I'm too lazy to clean and the mosquito bites from Chuseok that still haven't gone away.

i guess this means the little whinger is still running around seoul somewhere after all, b1tching about everything he sees.

I totally agree! Have you ever been at a party and all the bags are ripped open and then there are leftovers from each of the bag? What are you going to do then? Mix them all together and wrap them up? That doesn't work. Then they all taste weird and stale. You have to throw them out, and Cliffhanger's correct - that goes against everything that's right and good and true.

What chip bag thing?

The closest they have come is serving me a handful of Pringles.

Yyccchhhh!

And they don't come in bags.

Koreans sure are sucker for artificial Western food.

My gripe is the anti-shoe policies.

I hate wearing these darn flip flops in school. And if a Korean comes to your home and sees evidence that you have been wearing shoes inside he will scowl.

These darn sandal thingys are bad for your feet. And besides, you can get athlete's foot.

If you don't trim your toenails regularly, you can get ingrown toenail problems more easily because you end up curling your toes to keep the dang sandals from sliding off. So now I'm limping around.

Oh, this is one gripe I wholeheartedly support. (not that i eat meat of any kind these days, I'm a closet vegetarian) For all their firsthand, daily exposure to the West via two generations of U.S. military presence, for all their newfound wealth, for all their recent international holiday/foreign study travel, these people remain culinarily hidebound and unadventurous for the most part. A few of the womenfolk show some curiosity and courage, but their dads & brothers seem very content to not deviate from the mean.

The chip bag thing: it's because they like to use the wrapper as a makeshift serving plate. Cheap and nasty.

The chip bag thing is hardly new, my ex commented on it back in 2003, and I thought it was odd enough to remember then.

The thing that always drove me nuts but I never heard anyone else comment on was how they make the most mundane announcements on school PA systems sound like rabid propaganda. I'd be hanging out in my homeroom, the national anthem would come on ( nice little ditty) and then I'd hear something that sounded like a speech from "Triumph of the Will" translated to Korean, and turned out to be an announcement about a boy scout meeting

It sucks ass-- it's all high-gloss production with the same predictable R&B lite vocals, instruments that are so over-produced they barely sound like instruments and just blend together into one big irritating buzz-- but that's okay, because the vocals are supposed to overwhelm the music anyway-- I mean, it's not really about the music at all, it's about the asshole with the pretty face and nice hairstyle.

The language is so ugly that when they sing pop songs it just sounds awkward-- all those 'a's' and 'ii's' make it unbearably choppy, and the importing of various outdated hiphop buzzwords from the early 90s just prove how out of touch they are with what they're trying to copy.

Here's one I've thought about a few times but never posted about. I rarely start threads. I get annoyed when I'm taking the elevator down and it stops at the third floor so that some lazy butt who isn't old or injured or encumbered etc. can go down two measly floors. They could have down the stairs in less than half the time they spent waiting for the elevator. Similarly, when I'm in the elevator at the ground floor about to go up and some healthy, unladen guy scoots in at the last second and presses the button for floor number three.
