Has anyone ever heard of this before?
I just read a diary entry from one of my students. It is the story of Snow White "after the movie". She's living in the castle, staring at snow fall. She wishes she can have a baby and then the snow turns black. Snow White gets pregnant "but" the baby is black like the snow. And "suprise she still loves the baby"
Is this just my kid being on crack, or has someone actually heard this story before? Another kind of Korean "different is bad" thing? Do they have this story in other countries? Part of me thinks it must just be my kid being whacky, but I'm dying to see if anyone has heard this story before. |

I dunno about that, but Warner Brothers released a parody of Snow White called "Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs".

Btw, if your kid made it up, I don't think she's necessarily racist or thinking that being different is bad. I obviously haven't read the story, but it sounds like an interesting little tale. You know, black people aren't literally black, and anyways, if you had a baby and it was supernaturally black, it'd be pretty surprising. |

I'm wondering how old your student is.
Anyway, maybe this is her/his way of saying, in a subtle and indirect way, "Even though my parents don't like black people, if I meet a nice black person, I might fall in love with him/her. I might even marry him/her, even though my parents will inevitably be strongly opposed." |

She's 11.
Too young to be labeled racist and I'm sure she meant no harm. I just kinda laughed at it when I read it. |

It's an interesting story. Kind of in the vein of "Be careful what you wish for" perhaps? |
