I've been offered a hagwon job in Daegu:

Working hours 3pm-10pm, 3x 1.5 hour classes
Upfront airfare
Fully-furnished single apt within 10 min walking distance
Elementary and middle school students (8-16 per class)
2.3M per month
No weekends

Those are the basics. They're going to send me a contract on Monday. On the face of it, does it seem reasonable?

Also, I'd like to know more about Daegu - leisuire, transport, nightlife, shopping, etc.

Thanks

MD

no bonus?

transportation: subway: about 1$, bus about 1$ , taxi-starts from 1.8$
you need a transportation card to transfer from bus to bus, from bus to subway, from sub to bus

There are several foreign bars and... clubs in downtown.

Daegu is a round valley, so it's very very hot and humid in summer. - hard to survive without an airconditioner.

It's close to Kyungju which is good place to go for tourists.
There is a zoo, an amusement park, pal-gong Mountain, an arboretum, spa..etc

Food: Jim galbi, Samkyupsal, Jim dak (popular)

Shopping: e-mart and home plus are everywhere.

Suseong-gu is the most expansive place to live in Daegu. <-cuz of the congested Hakwon businesses.

Yes, there's a bonus.

Hot and humid? More so than Seoul? Oh dear god!

I've done Seoul and Daegu.

Daegu is hotter and more humid.
Seoul is more fun.
Daegu is slower paced
Seoul is so much more exciting.
Daegu has all the "western" things you'd find in Seoul. Less foreign restaurants, but they are there.

Your contract sounds pretty good. What's the name of the hogwan?
