| In my cheapest weeks, I spend on average 20,000/day. But I smoke 2 packs a day. That's 5,000 right there. That doesn't include my utilities. |

i'm shocking for saving, i don't earn as much as you guys, i like my carefree lifestyle of no extra lessons etc, but what i tend to do is be really good for a couple of weeks and then go on some insane bender and spend hundreds of dollars staying wasted for two days
i think the answer is to send money home before you can spend it, but unlike most people i'm not really here for the money so much as the stress free life |

I might save more if....
I spend less.
Yep, worked that out all by myself. |

I smoke more than that when I drink, which is pretty much every night.
I would save more, if Korea wasn't so goddamn boring and frustrating. Which, it is. And Korea is expensive, it is, it is, no lies.
Go to Vietnam and work these hours, you will save a lot more, and live a better life (if one could take theft, pick-pocketing and getting screwed over non-stop out of the equation, of course). |

300,000 a month on food (I eat out every meal).
800,000 a month on excursions (girlfriend I eat at expensive places and travel around).
700,000 a month on student loans/bills back home.
The rest I keep. This is the first month I've had a surplus as every other month I've been buying stuff I'd need for my time here (computer, clothes et cetera). |

Damn it! I just can't seem to save money here and it really pisses me off ... I look at my bank account and wish I could save more ... I have been in Korea for more than a year and haven't saved much ...
at first, i made 2 million a month and i couldn't save ... i quit my job for something more plus privates ... i make about 3.5 million ... whether it is 2 million or 3.5 it is all the same ... at the end of the month my bank account is only a couple of 10,000 wons ... i blame my girlfriend, but i don't exactly wine and dine her ... i know where my money goes, mostly food + alcohol + good times etc ... at the end of the month, at the end of the year regardless how much i make, i spend it all ... breaking up with my girlfriend won't solve the problem ... i think it is a mental thing ... so how much u make and how much can you save or are you like me ... a personal disorder problem in regards to saving money in korea ... how can i solve this problem ... i refuse to stay at home and rent dvd's all day drinking water and eating ramyun ... |
is your girlfriend a hooker? that's the only way i could see not being able to save anything when making 3.5 mil a month.... and blaming it on her.
my advice is to find a girlfriend who isn't a hooker. good luck. |

I agree with the above comment.
Any future woman worth her salt would be asking that you save and invest in your (plural) future. Not hacking at your hard earned income. |
