Anyone going to this? i looked at the outline and half of it consits of "cultural training" and "cultural performances" so i politely declined. Why does GEPIK push this crap on us? give us some solid training with real lecturers who know what they are talking about please and i'll go. until then...thanks but no thanks. |

As a GEPIK teacher you would be far better off to get a login to the GEPIK home page ( http://gepik.ken.go.kr/ )
and leave a comment there ( http://gepik.ken.go.kr/r/bbs/board.php?bbs_code=f_qna ).
The more people talk about real professional development instead of this kind of thing the better our chances of actually getting some useful workshops instead of "cultural training". |

Incheon Public Schools did something similar last year, to their credit though, it was on a weekday. Even though it was a bit rediculous I went anyway and it wasn't too bad. |

No, I want them ALSO posting on the GEPIK website so the powers that be see them and understand that we DO want training that goes beyond watching dancing and getting drunk.
We don't all have the luxury of working in a crapwon like you do, dragging our lazy asses in to work 5 minutes before the bell and just hitting the copy machine as our prep.
Regular pro-D workshops (1/2 day wednesdays once a month or so would be good) would be so much better and more efficient that the drunken debauchery that occurs at these other waste of time events they put on.
When will you pull your head out of your ass instead of being just a troll?

Can we refuse to go? My boss said it was necessary for my wife and I to attend. I would REALLY like to get out of it if possible. |

yeah, it was my bad editing.
sorry.
PS- public school waygook teachers are so good that the kids have to come to our hagwons to learn english-e. just kidding.....it's hard to be effective in a public school when you have 30-40 students in a class.
I would not wish the curse of 30-40 kids in a class on anyone. And, for anyone to actually think that a public school job is somehow better than a good hagwon job...well......they are kidding themselves.
We all do the same sh8t here. |

No kidding. Besides, the GEPIK leadership probably will read it here, anyway, so, post away. |

I work in Gyeonggi and haven't heard anything about it. I also didn't have to go to the big GEPIK pow-wow a few weeks back... |
