Here's one I've thought about a few times but never posted about. I rarely start threads. I get annoyed when I'm taking the elevator down and it stops at the third floor so that some lazy butt who isn't old or injured or encumbered etc. can go down two measly floors. They could have down the stairs in less than half the time they spent waiting for the elevator. Similarly, when I'm in the elevator at the ground floor about to go up and some healthy, unladen guy scoots in at the last second and presses the button for floor number three.

I hate that too. I noticed lots of young teens in Seoul doing that in the subways. Really annoying.

is this one of those 'pavlov' sorts of tests for dev?

Ummmm....no.

crap. i'd hoped you had him chained in your basement, ringing a bell just before you offered him something new to whine about.

i guess this means the little whinger is still running around seoul somewhere after all, b1tching about everything he sees.

I'd like to whinge about those nasty posters who never capitalise. Especially the ones who cheat in word games, getting their post in before yours, by not taking the time to capitalise even proper nouns! Mad

Dammit!!

i've been thinking about this in my idle moments since last night. i live on the first floor and do have a 'basement' under my apartment. i've been playing with the idea of offering my services to the expat community as a part-time jailer for those undesirables who deserve to be chained up in a basement somewhere. do you think there is a job opportunity here? would people kick in for a whips and chain fund to get me started?

Got another.

I'm tired of having to repeatedly ask every Korean "What's the context? / What's the full sentence?" whenever they stumble upon some bizarre word or term or expression that they cannot find in a dictionary. Not just Koreans I work with, but Korean friends & acquaintances will SMS me or email me or ring me up with some weird thing. Doesn't it dawn on them how unhelpful it is to not be given any clue as to the context or usage? Particularly as two-, three-syllable words in THEIR language can have 25 different meanings and are ONLY understandable from the context.

And sometimes it's like they're just fkking with your head...

Them: Guru, what does "jal" mean?
Me: J, A, L?
Them: Um... yeah.
Me: Japan Airlines? "JAL"?
Them: No, no. It definitely is not Japan Airlines.
Me: Hm. Well, what's the context? Read me the whole sentence.
Them: No, the context isn't clear, I just need you to tell me what it means.
Me: Well, if it's not Japan Airlines, then I don't know what it means. Where did you read it? Can you email me a link or something?
Them: No, our boss just had a meeting with XYZ Co. from Australia, and their representative kept saying "jal" or something like that. My boss wants to know what it means and he's ordered us to find out.
Me: Aw fer fux sake! Mad
