When they're young and beautiful, they're aloof, snobby, kimchi queens who wouldn't marry you for all the tea in China because you're not Korean. After 35 they turn into desperate stalkers who will have your babies before you've even been introduced. |

Maybe you are not eating enough Kimchi rapier. I think it is a smell detector. The day i met my current g/f I ate a plate full of Kimchi and BOOM, i'm in like flynn.
Do 2 Kimchi days each week, breathe on the young and beautiful ones, they will melt like butter. |

OK - Ajumma called and she came over to "show me how to use my rice cooker." Well, she really tried to show me, but I already knew how to use it I cooked a great batch of rice. She went home right afterward. She told her husband she was going to get her hair done. We didn't do anything though of course.

Hey thanks. You know it's interesting, some people will read what you write and think you are being a jerk, but some people can pick up that you're just being serious or whatever. But yah if anyone is interested in meeting up with a new guy and showing him how to be on his own or at least have a basic understanding of even just basic things, seriously PM me and let's hang out, anywhere, could be afternoon or afterhours.
And another thing, I'm not just looking for quickie stuff, actually just trying to figure out how to be comfortable in my own skin or whatever here. And I don't expect to learn lots of secrets in one day because no one is ever going to do that. What they really need is to find out how to get their own thing going in their own kind of way, but sometimes it takes being around others to get that started.... So yah I'm up for anything if anyone else is up to it... If anyone is then send a pm... |

Oops, check this out: (I came across this when I was searching for the article about how ten more foreign teachers were arrested this weekend on drug charges...what idiots!)
Some specific crimes to be aware of:
Adultery
Korea is one of the few countries on earth that has adultery laws on the books that are enforced. I have only known of foreign men to be prosecuted for this, not women. If you are caught sleeping with someone's wife, you may have to pay the outraged husband thousands of dollars to prevent him from taking you to court. If he does choose to prosecute, article 241 of Korean law states you can face a jail term of up to two years.
Under Korean law, adultery is a serious criminal act and carries a serious consequences. If one spouse is caught having an adulterous affair with let's say an unmarried 25-year, single person, the other spouse can press a criminal charge against the adulterous spouse and put the spouse in jail, in addition to seeking civil damages. In addition, the spouse can press criminal charge against the person who knowingly had an affair with the adulterous spouse. (Therefore, if you are a single, you should avoid sexual relations with a married person at all costs.) A majority of Korean women favor keeping this law on adultery precisely because they perceive that this law could be used as a weapon against their husbands in divorce proceedings.

Shawner: Remember Nike's slogan?
On the adultery line... I wonder how many people have actually been prosecuted under that law? |

Hey shakahuchi or whatever the hell your login is your exchange with coffeecup sounds like a veritable case of the blind leading the blind.
I do agree, however, with what you imply: indeed there is no handbook for 'meeting girls'.
So I ask you again coffee cup: what is your problem are you overly attractive as to intimidate (and please don't read into this, I impart with purely altruistic intent) or are you objectively repulsive.
You know, but even the most inveterate self-loather, wouldn't admit it. In that case look at your track record. You come from somewhere. Where does matter, as long as there are or were girls.
What matters for you right now is that it sure as hell ain't Korea cause you know *beep* about Korean girls, not that I know anymore.
I do know this much however: you are earnest, the kind of guy who'd splutter his whole life story over coffee (hey, am I on to something) sob and dry his eyes on a shirt sleeve, in one word (or three) bear his fucking soul.
Ugly or not, you can absoutely assure yourself of failure if women smell earnestness and its horrible bedfellows: desperation, obsession and panic.
From what I read (and as another poster commented I find your dogged pursuit of Korean tail quite amusing), the first problem is your perspective.
You use words like 'show me' and other interjections to respond to other posters tales of revelry and licentious pastime all the while barely concealing your contempt.
This response is interesting for what it betrays. You are not so naive. Not as naive as you make out. Somebody, albeit a moron, has pumped your head full of fanciful ideas about the preponderance of "available" girls willing to treat you.
No doubt the fellow posters draw attention, perhaps in exagerrated detail to their conquests. Why shouldn't they? They've all been here longer than you, speak the language to varying degree of competence and know the culture.
Women: the fruits of their efforts. But honestly (and I'm gonna end this before it turns into a Jerry Springerese monologue), what the *beep* is so hard.
People meet people everyday. You leave the house right. You can talk, yeah? Work?
Miss Korean ain't comin your way any time soon so clench your teeth, lower your standards if you have to and enjoy. |

Oh...of course! Guess she is fully embracing her ajumma-hood, ajumma-ship, ajumma-ness, whatever, as that comment you made to her obviously did nothing to deter her from seeing you.
As an aside to Mr. Cup, I mean this sincerely, so please think about what I am saying. I was excruciatingly lonely last year and I had it worse, being a Western female. What you should consider doing is try to hang out with your coworkers. Invite them out for a beer, go see a movie with them, have dinner, whatever. Maybe you'll become good friends with them, and maybe you won't. But they will be sure to introduce you to some of their friend along the way. Also, doing things for yourself now is key to a sane lifestyle. If you want to learn Tae Kwon Do, do it. Like to hang out in the travel section of Kyobo, do that. Like running, join a club. I think once you start going places just to have fun you will meet people, no problem. Be open to making guy friends and girl friends. |

She's still sending me messages and calling. I've answered the phone a few times because I don't want to feel awkward when I see her at the health club which she joined on my account. Also, she talked about joining my adult class at my school (there's banners for it all over town with my name on them), so I can't really ignore her all together.
Today I got another text message: "Hi Schon. How is your day? Now I'm thinking of you and hearing the beautiful music. Bye."
I replied, "Yeah, sounds great. See you again." |
