A guy I work with told me about working in middle or high school in Australia. Several African teenagers who made it to Australia came in to a class one day to tell about themselves.
One thing they referred to, as my co-worker put it, was called, "long sleeve or short sleeve?"
I'm not sure now, but maybe it was in reference to the Sudan conflict.
Short sleeve or long means cut off arms low or high?
You choose: no hands or no forearms?

A friend of mine that worked in the Somalia conflict brought back picture of dead guys and girls with their hands and feet chopped off. Apparently, the battling warlords would enter another warlord's village and randomly butcher the peasants.
The hands and foot thing was done so the dead folk could not walk or crawl into heaven.
nice. |
