I'm making a bit of a futile attempt to study for the American foreign service exam and am reading through Martin Gilbert's History of the Twentieth Century (when I had a part time at university I actually worked with this guy, nice fellow). I'm reading a part on the spanish civil war and it lists a dozen or so nationalities who came to fight on behalf of the republic. Included in the list are Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese. I find it a bit hard to believe considering Koreans were occupied by japan and China had both a civil war and fighting in Manchuria.
Has anyone heard anything about Korean involvement in this? Nothing turned up on google. |

| I'm with you on this one: sounds like the writer got a bit overzealous when listing participants and/or didn't check sources very carefully. |
