|
|
What seems to be a trend these days, kung fu masters decide they really, really do have chi super powers and put it to a real test among those who haven't swallowed the master's koolaid.
http://scienceblogs.com/neurotopia/2007/10/martial_idiocy.php
In this video, a guy claims he can turn his skin iron and repel the blow of a razor sharp sword that can slice through a small tree. Guess what? Turns out he can't. He slices to the bone. Besides the befuddled Australian camera crew, no one is more surprised than the kung fu master.
In the tradition of this idiot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEDaCIDvj6I
Chi master drinks his own koolaid. Goes up against a MMA fighter who hasn't drunk his koolaid. Gets his ass kicked. Badly. |

I absolutely love kung fu films, and have quite the impressive collection even here in Korea, but as far as martial arts go, it is about as useless as Tae Kwon Do. |

I've got to disagree. Tae kwon Do is way more useless than kung fu.
Edit: To clarify, I've studied both Tae Kwon Do and Hungar kung fu and found TKD to be the more "useless" of the two. |

No martial art is useless if you practice and study for what it is really intended for: to understand the martial or military way of life and thought and use it to discipline and ultimately free your own mind, body and spirit. It's also used to develope a better appreciation and love of life and the lives of others. NOT for hacking at your own arm and putting on miraculous shows and other hogwash by so-called "martial artists". In the sense of using a martial art to help yourself and others it trully is an art and a beautiful one at that. |

I'm not even going to bother looking at the links since obviously they are about muay thai, something we weren't talking about in our initial observation. In the end, each martial art has its uses, advantages and disadvantages. Every person's opinion on what those advantages and disadvantages are will be different. So, this is pretty darn subjective
By the way, have you studied Kung fu and Tae Kwon Do before coming up with your opinion? |

Anybody watch the Taekkyeon video on there? Even in that two and a half minute video, the master was able to get in his comment saying how Koreans hit better than the Japanese and Chinese. |

I disagree!
The fight blocking the sidewalk that I saw on my way home last night showed me that TKD is an excellent way to cheap shot some guy who was being pulled away by bystanders. That kick in the face when he wasn't looking connected well. |

There's a big difference between martial arts and ancient Chinese mysticism bullcrap.
Here's my favourite Chinese martial artist who claims supernatural powers. Pay no attention to the man under the table!
