Extending multiple entry permit - possible?

I got my multiple entry permit at the same time as my E-2 visa. The multiple entry permit expires 5 days before the E-2. I tried to argue about this at the time, but apparently it is the "new policy". (Multiple entry permits used to expire the same day as the E-2.)

My question is: if I show immigration a plane ticket returning later than the expiry of the multiple entry (but before the expiry of the E-2), will they extend it?

Has anyone tried this?

Thanks.

Why not just get a return visa at the airport.

Are you extending you visa too? if so, you can get it done at the same time. ALthough extending a multi-entry visa does not mean that your multi-entry permit is extended. It's a separate stamp.

Or you can just purchase a single-reentry permit at the airport or immigratin before your trip.

Where are you going five days before you leave the country?

I guess I didn't explain it well. I will be out of Korea for a few weeks and returning before my E2 expires (at which time I will renew it - I won't have the paperwork to renew it before I go).

I just wanted to come back a few days later - closer to the E2 expiry date. I already have a valid re-entry permit, but the date on it forces me to come back earlier than (I think) is necessary.

If your E-2 is still ok there will be no problems. I have done this 3 times.

Lonewolf, did you always do it at the airport on your way out? Did you just show them your return plane ticket? When's the last time you did it - Immigration (Mok-dong) told me that it was a new requirement to be back five days before the E2 expired.

Thanks.
