Pastis, in Cambodia I brought a litre bottle of Pastis, the real deal from France for $8, it lasted about 2 weeks, a few drinks every nite. Best drink deal in Asia!

Good on ya - I was actually in Lao about a week ago and saw some there (I think it was Ricard), but I assumed it was fake (I think it was around $8 as well, which seemed too cheap to be the real deal). Plus there was not much point with all the tasty Beerlao everywhere... Wink

But if you're sure it was real (or close enough), I'll be sure to pick up a bottle or two next time.

My student's mom gave me a small bottle of onion juice a while back. That was pretty bad, and I like onions.

Interesting about the references regarding Pocari Sweat. I find it much easier to drink than water when I'm dehydrated!

Never tried Milkis but I found McCol to be unpleasant! Still...I'm sure there is worse out there.

I find it goes down real well after sweating in an onsen for several hours, but other than that I wouldn't bother. It's not a sipping drink that's for sure.

For alcoholic drinks: Chinese mao tai. Mind you, all Chinese liquors/wines are horrid-I'd even rather drink soju.

McCol is pretty foul, but I think it beats the "Marine Algae Juice" for sale in Vietnam...
