But I fly out next tuesday! Shocked

It takes 5 working days to process the visa and becuase of the week long postal strike in the UK, the courier cannot come till tomorrow for delivery to the South Korean embassy on Wednesday morning.

I rang the charming lady at the Korean embassy in London (I rang at 9.58 and she goes ring at 10 and puts the phone down) at 10.01 that even if I hand deliver the documents today it is still going to take 5 working days (couple that with the fact I live in the north of England and the complete and utter bobbins as well as expensive transport system means I wouldn't get my visa processed in a day anyway)

I thought this shyt would be simple!

Anyone been through this? What usually happens next? I have told my recruiters that they are better off changing my fly out date but what does anyone predict will happen? It is kimnjoe the recruiters by the way! Very Happy

I used KimnJoe too which are pretty good. They bought me the flight before I even had my visa issuance and the visa put into my passport. They said that if there were visa delays, they could change it as needed.

Since the post is on strike or too slow, you might consider using a private courier, instead of the post. I used a private courier and had the passport package registered and insured. Perhaps you can use DHL and Fed Ex or another one.

I would say get that passport and paper work out today using a commercial courier service like I mentioned. Once they receive it and process your visa, they send it back to you in the return delivery arrangements you pre-set up by including the return packaging material and pre-paid delivery. You then receive it at your house, tell KinmJoe you have it, and you are ready to depart for Korea.

You going to the southern coastal part of Korea by any chance?

Hey everyone, if I am leaving anything out, please correct me or add it.

They bought me the flight last week sojourner but it would have been lovely to use royal mail, but because of the postal strike the couriers are running a day late meaning even if I arranged it all first thing this morning the visa number would be on their desk wednesday. (I got the visa number this morning)

Based on what the time concious gets at the embassy have told me, is that it would be impossible for me to fly out on the 16th... so I wrote to kimnjoe and told them to make some kind of contingency plan. If it is that they change the date of my flight or I have to make a visa run... who knows!

Anyway cheers Sojurner... ya I'm off to a medium sized city in the south
(Changwon) Very Happy

Can't help you I am afraid but I know exactly how you feel, my visa is with the embassy as we speak...Am thinking I may have to make the journey down South, just to add another 100 to my expenses.

Don't do it! Or I wouldn't (or couldn't) do it anyway, I'm going on a tight financial plan to Korea as it is. The recruiters or the school are going to have to show some leeway on this and I think (hope) they will.

I don't about you CT but have you forked out way more than you expected to for all this?

It's been a lot more hassle than I thought, I got a vissue issuance number on the Friday night and had my recruiter shouting at me on the Monday for not having my visa already, erm...how??? Also I couldn't get hold of a visa form (they wouldn't open on the website and they kept saying they would email me one and didn't) then because of the post strikes and the Korean holiday I really don't think I am going to get it in time, especially ast they brought my flight forward.

When I applied for my Visa I had a similar problem, but I sent out the docs with guaranteed next day delivery (thankfully I had no postel stikes to contend with) and included a nice cover letter explaining the problem. I asked the embassy to treat it as a priority or to call me if that was not possible. Treating me as a priority must have been the easier option Wink

I travelled from London to Liverpool 2 days before I was due to fly out and collected my passport. The Visa was actually prepared the day they recieved it. Book your rail tickets online if you need to make the journey down there. I managed the trip for 35 return, though it can be had for as cheap as 25 if you book early enough.
