Besides myself, mindmetoo, jajdude, twg, and RACETRAITOR, which other posters are utterly repulsed by Xtianity?

We need to start a club, where we can go drink tea and eat crumpets on Sundays, near a moonlit lake, with swans on it basking in the glory of the smell of our 6000 won Aqua Velva aftershave, and discuss Nietzche's ideas about gender equality in the workplace or something.

*beep* no. There is either a god, or there is not. Insecure agnostics that can't decide will get the boot I'm afraid. Man up or ship out, toots.

Atheist or not, you paint a vivid picture of Hell.

I'm just not arrogant enough to think that humans are the epitome of intelligent life, so I allow for the possibility that there might be something bigger than us on some plane of existence. Besides, your first post said:

I was always an agnostic, but the argument that won it for me in favor of atheism was this (altered slightly by me):

Ludwig Wittgenstein wrote:
Is a riddle solved by the fact that I survive for ever? Is this eternal life not [more] enigmatic [than] our present one? This 'solution' of the riddle of life in space and time lies outside space and time [and that's a load of bollocks, if you ask me]

He was criticizing life after death rather than theism, but the same can be said of God: if an explanation is more radical than the thing you're trying to explain, it's a poor attempt at an explanation. Sure thing, the Earth and Universe are radical entities, but less radical than a being that has always lived, will always live, created everything. Mind you, it's the height of arrogance to assume our 5 puny senses are it, but since the god theory lacks explanatory power, that's an excellent reason not to believe it.

I'd like to point out that, while I think every single religion on Earth is totally wrong (or at most one is right), I haven't ruled out the notion of a god. Just that whatever that god is, it doesn't answer by the names Yahweh, Wotan, Jesus, Ra, Zeus, and so on, and it doesn't live on clouds watching us masterbait and sending hurricanes to punish us for being gay-enablers. And if there is this hypothetical god, it certainly doesn't need our worship.
