Saw the rag this morning and another dunderhead opened a Nazi bar in Seoul and made the front page. It looks like this time the rage and indignation thrown his way is much worse than in 2002.

"I didn't think about that", indeed. Rolling Eyes

I'm going to open a Hideki Tojo bar in L.A. replete with bartenders dressed as Samurai who cut pineapple "heads" off of little peasant figures with katanas.

On that note, I always thought Nazi chic was kind of cool, like the BDSM with women in skin-tight leather and SS hats. Anyway...

Don't forget hostesses dressed as comfort women.

The interview kind of revealed what's behind this. The Korean doesn't understand the history. Who understands the history of a people on the other side of the world? He just saw some cool uniforms, some guys pumped full of energy, victorious warriors. Hey, that would make a cool bar!

Come on now!

How can he not know that the Germans were teamed up with the hated Japanese?

... especially considering all the stupid amounts of facts Korean kids have to soak up. My middle schoolers were learning about Rome and Alexander the Great last year... you can be damn sure they know who Hitler is and what he did.

Yeah, let's dispatch a gang of skinheads there to show them how to appreciate the white race.

What paper was this in?

Oh, I don't know. My kids know a shit-ton of facts but only in the context of a test. Give them multiple choice and they'll clean the floor with it. Throw a short answer question at them however... *THUD* One of my students put it best: he called the method of teaching in schools here "Injection learning."

I've had a fair few students tell me that Hitler was 'good', because he was a 'strong' leader.

Why's it always Nazi bars? Why not a home improvement store? After all, the Nazis made sturdy showers and ovens.

I'd like to see some Bolshevik-Marxist-Leninist bars opening up. Just to add a bit of balance.
