Don't go to Ehwa to study Korean. They only teach you the higher form and it's a complete waist of time. Even if it's free.

Endo is referring to very formal Korean, as if you will only be speaking to monks, presidents or polite grandmothers. All not very likely.

I-house offers almost free, one-on-one or group lessons.

http://www.i-ihouse.com/nbuilder/community/main/index.php

You pay 4000 won for as much coffee or soda you can drink. I have a tutor and we have two hour classes. 4000 won for 2 hours of private lessons - not bad, eh?

I sat in on a conversation class but it was way over my level.

However, it may not be a "waist" of time to teach you English, huh? Very Happy

The classes aren't that bad for the second level. The teacher there is pretty good. If you are starting out though, the beginner classes are horrible (not just be saying this). If you can read hangeul though, the second level should be ok for the Ehwa one. The third level was pretty nice too, though she won't speak much English at all, so be prepared (I like that, but some don't). They don't just teach the formal way of talking either, I find the second level teacher goes into some useful stuff.

Just my opinion.

Plus, it's free and you can meet new people there. I can't go anymore, but I liked it.

Where do you have your private classes?

The tutors at I-House are not language exchange; they'll teach you 100% in Korean if you like. You can dictate the pace; I bring in my own textbook, ask her to check my work, and practice the grammar points. Up to you...
