Court Rules in Bar Hostess Solicitation Case
Quote: |
A court ruled that bar hostesses cannot be charged with prostitution even if their solicitation of rich customers involves sexual intercourse, just as long as their patrons do not pay them any money for sex....
...Yoon took good care of rich customers, and assigned hostesses to them to cultivate their patronage.
The hostesses themselves chipped in. They voluntarily asked the rich patrons out and met them outside the club. They all entered sexual relationships with them as well to keep them coming to the club. But the hostesses did not take money for the sexual favors granted. The sexual solicitations were geared toward making the club more money instead.
Women's advocacy groups decry the decision, criticizing the judge as too "innocent." |

Uh... the hostesses could be lying about not getting paid for the sex? I agree, the judge is naive and if its a male he's one of the happy patrons =P |

It's important that the long tradition of keeping the Sodom and Gomorrah culture of the rich intact stays alive for future generations... |

I think it's ridiculous that a group can call itself a "Women's Advocacy Group" when it tries to fight what the women involve choose to do out of their own free will. Paternalistic (maternalistic?) b.s.
Any organization that wants to call itself a women's advocacy group should fight for the free choice of women to enter that field if they want, only trying to stop it if it involves gangs or coercion of any kind. Anything else is bullsh*t. |

It;s still prostitution, but definitely a step up over other forms available in this country... |

I agree. Prostitution in Korea and some other asian countries is not like that in the western world. Girls here do it because it is easy money. They are in the business because that is what they have chosen to do, and they can walk away anytime they want. I know, I was married to one. |

I agree. I notice you used the past tense.
Please tell us more. Did her old occupation come back to haunt her?
I never believed that any of these women could just "walk away" one day. I always expected it would impact their future relationship somehow - be it that they miss the easy money, have no concept of budgeting money, or miss the power/control of the sex. |

I've known plenty of guys married to former bargirls over the years, many of them still happily married. Then again, sex work in the SE Asian context is a bit different to here. |

I thought in your original long thread about this you said you didn't know that. Most people who happily choose to do something tell their spouses about it, don't you think? |

This is exactly how escort services in the US get around the law. They say the customer is only paying the escort for the time not the sex. If the escort and her customer have sex then it's something the customer gets for free and therefore is not prostitution. |

I did write about in a previous post about 8 months ago and I got trashed by almost everyone on this site, so no, I will not write about it again. |

Her old occupation?? She is still working, only she is now in Sydney where it is legal. By walk away, I mean they CAN quit, but most choose not to for the reasons you mentioned above. |

I didn't know. She left me because I found out. She is now in Sydney where prostitution is legal. |
