Does anyone have any experience with this? Are there any decent books on the topic?
Specifically my students want help using visual aids in presentations. Graphs, charts, etc.
Thanks! |

Microsoft Power point is typically used for business presentations that involved charts, graphs, facts, and figures.
I used Power point a great deal for in class presentations of case studies in a manner that a professional uses it to sell the CEO suite. That is where you present an idea and back it up with how buying into it can help your audience. |

Do you mean the technical side of things or the vocab associated with A/V aids? |

Specifically vocab. Expressions used for describing the visual aids used for their presentations.
I plan on hitting up the bookstores this week. If there's any suggestions for how to approach this, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'll try to find some sample presentations on YouTube for them to watch too. |

When I teach presentation skills as a full course (see the button/materials on my Batcave link below), I have a ppt full of basic, easy to read graphs.
I print out each graph on A4 (use print preview to do this) and we go through one together with the graph on the screen (I let them use my laser pointer -- have them use it!!!!). Then, they are given their own graph on A4 and they plan a mini presentation. First they deliver it to 2/3 others and then to the whole class with their A4 on the screen.
I'll dig up the graph ppt and post on the Public speaking folder mentioned above. But this lesson works really well , especially if the graphs/topics are chosen well.
