Those were the days by Mary Hopkin - if it comes on the radio when I'm with other people I run out of the room to spare my embarrasment.

I don't know what does it, the baliaka, the lyrics of good times that are gone forever or lost love or I'm just a big softy! Puff the magic dragon does it too.. I'm revealing too much information here!
Anything by jive bunny also but for totally different reasons! |

I haven't ever cried because of a song, but I find these particularly sad:
You Raise Me Up (Westlife) and Fields of Gold (Sting) because they were played at my aunty's funeral in January.
Hurt - Johnny Cash
Fireworks and That's All Changed - Embrace
How Can You Mend a Broken Heart - Bee Gees
A Little Soul - Pulp
Imagine - John Lennon
I'm So Lonely - Cast
Holiday in Spain - Counting Crows
Sacrifice - Elton John
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
Too Much Love Will Kill You - Queen
I'll Be Missing you - Puff Daddy (and Sting originally)
Still Loving You - Scorpions
Stay - Shakespeare's Sister
November Rain - Guns 'n Roses
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
Ok, I best stop now |

No music makes me cry.
However I shed a tear everytime I watch athletics. there is something moving and profound about athletes competing and winning at sport. probably cos i played so much sport when I was young...
But really nothing else gets to me much. |

Showing my unmanly side:
"One"- U2
"The Last Day of Our Acquaintance"- Sinead O'Conner
"In Your Eyes"- Peter Gabriel
Yep, I know it's a cheesy choice, but "Say Anything" was showing at an interesting time in my life.
"Pictures of You"- The Cure
Very emotional songs-
"The Rain Song"- Led Zepplin
"Us & Them"- Pink Floyd
"Little Wing" & "May This Be Love"- Jimi Hendrix
"Walking After You"- Foo Fighters |

Not all are criers. The first and third ones definitely are. Most of the rest are just that chest-tightening feeling, for one reason or another:
"A Little Fall of Rain" (Eponine's death scene in Les Miserable)
"Javert's suicide" (Les Miserables)
"Crying in the Rain" (Everly Bros live version)
"He's Not Heavy" (Housemartins)
"One More Try" (George Michael... lame, I know)
"Angel Eyes" (Jeff Healey... first gf broke up with me while slow dancing to this song)
"Beth" (Peter Criss)
"I Will Remember you" (Sarah McLachlan) |

Them and all the others from my personal gothic "noir" era.
Counting Crows
Round Here
Step out the front door like a ghost into the fog
Where no one notices the contrast of white on white
And in between the moon and you the angels get a better view
Of the crumbling difference between wrong and right
I walk in the air between the rain through myself and back again
Where? I dont know
Maria says shes dying through the door I hear her crying
Why? I dont know
Round here we always stand up straight
Round here something radiates
Maria came from nashville with a suitcase in her hand
She said shed like to meet a boy who looks like elvis
She walks along the edge of where the ocean meets the land
Just like shes walking on a wire in the circus
She parks her car outside of my house
Takes her clothes off
Says shes close to understanding jesus
She knows shes more than just a little misunderstood
She has trouble acting normal when shes nervous
Round here were carving out our names
Round here we all look the same
Round here we talk just like lions
But we sacrifice like lambs
Round here shes slipping through my hands
Sleeping children better run like the wind
Out of the lightning dream
Mamas little baby better get herself in
Out of the lightning
She says its only in my head
She says shhh I know its only in my head
But the girl on car in the parking lot says
man you should try to take a shot
Cant you see my walls are crumbling?
Then she looks up at the building and says shes thinking of jumping
She says shes tired of life she must be tired of something
Round here shes always on my mind
Round here hey man got lots of time
Round here were never sent to bed early
And nobody makes us wait
Round here we stay up very, very, very, very late
I cant see nothing, nothing round here
Catch me if Im falling
yeah- that one is very "atmospheric" for me. |
