I just found this story to be pretty funny...

Woman seeks rich husband, banker says "crappy" deal
Wed Oct 10, 10:39 AM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Deal or no deal? An online exchange between a woman looking for a husband who earns more than $500,000 a year and a mystery Wall Street banker, who assessed her potential for romance as a business deal, has cause quite an Internet stir.

The anonymous 25-year-old woman recently posted an ad on the free online New York community Web site Craigslist, http://newyork.craigslist.org/, appealing for advice on how to find a wealthy husband.

"I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don't think I'm overreaching at all," the woman, who described herself as "spectacularly beautiful" and "superficial," wrote.

"I dated a business man who makes average around 200 - 250. But that's where I seem to hit a roadblock. $250,000 won't get me to Central Park West," she said, asking questions like "where do rich single men hang out?"

The mystery banker, who said he fit the bill, offered the woman an analysis of her predicament, describing it as "plain and simple a crappy business deal."

"Your looks will fade and my money will likely continue into perpetuity ... in fact, it is very likely that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won't be getting any more beautiful!" the banker wrote.

"So, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning asset," he said. "Let me explain, you're 25 now and will likely stay pretty hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you!"

"It doesn't make good business sense to "buy you" (which is what you're asking) so I'd rather lease," he said.

While the woman has since removed the ad from Craigslist, it -- along with the response -- has become a popular email joke that, bank JPMorgan Chase says, led to one of its bankers mistakenly being credited with writing the response.

Brian Marchiony, spokesman for JPMorgan Chase, said the banker did not write the response and that his email signature accidentally became attached to the ad and response when he forwarded it to friends and it then wound up on blogs.

Craigslist was not immediately available for comment, but a spokeswoman told The New York Times that "it does look as if the post was made sincerely."

I love capitalism for the opportunities, and for watching people become so stupid.

Good burn by the banker. Hopefully she goes to a brothel, where she belongs

That's some advice a lot of women need to learn, and a lot of men need to understand.

That ad is nothing compared to the ones openly expressed by Korean women.
Korea has far outdone the US in the superficial "monopoly" dating game.

Vis a vis The Rich Husband, at what point does he go from a "buy" rating to a "sell" rating?

One could postulate that the growth of his gut is directly proportional to the growth of his bank account, and therefore it could be best to "sell" at the point where his gut has reached a peak size--with the onset of diabetes, heart problems, etc etc.

Another good indicator of when to "sell" could be, yes folks-- baldness!!
His lack of hair could also be directly proportional to the size of his bank account--the less hair=the more money Smile

Fat and balding--best time to "sell"

The catch is, a rich husband doesn't have to be handsome. He has to be rich. That's why he's a rich husband.

A beautiful woman has until about the age of 27 to be hot, and then another few years of decent attractiveness, before becoming a mess of cellulite and flabby arms.

Difference is that his gut is not her concern, his bank balance is. Once you've made a certain amount and invested it, its unlikely that you're going to lose it all suddenly.

But I agree with you because men make money to increase their status, to attract better looking women. Women want rich husbands who will provide them with a lifestyle that is the envy of their friends. So both have essentially reduced themselves to little more than squirrels gathering nuts.

A man spends his life amassing wealth in order to get a hot woman. Then he complains woman just want him for his money.
A woman spends her life making herself attractive, then complains men just want her for her body.

Isn't it fun, then, that after they both select partners based on the most mercenary and shallow of instincts, that they then expect "true love" out of the deal.

Shallowness aside, it's just like economic theory--I've got something you really want, and you've got something I really want--let's make a deal that is mutually beneficial.

In that case the deal would only last so long as both partners fulfill their end of the bargain.

Millionaire-man is unlikely to lose his cash.
Supermodel princess is surely going to lose her looks.

We all know women view a big bank balance as a turn on. Her mistake was to openly parade that pre-requisite. People don't like to admit to being shallow.

the rich husband goes from "buy" to "sell" as soon as the marriage is over, barring a pre nup!

Given both their mercenary attitudes, I'd say this is a marriage made in Heaven.

My wife makes more base than me. When I bring in more than her by OT or extra classes, then I feel pretty darned good about myself. It's a good month.

My wife is an attractive lady. She's not the hottest thing on Earth, but when she was last in the states, a total stranger grabbed her and said to her/I, "You are so cute! You'd better hold on to this one!"

The real thing of beauty about her is that she sets goals, and works hard to achieve them. She met me, knew little English, and said she would learn it. By gosh, she has done well. She did the same with Japanese before she met me. She didn't know how to cook, and has been learning. I know she will be a good cook.

With my wife, when she puts her mind to something, she just plain gets it done. That'll be here a lot longer than her looks, and that's a big reason why I married her. She's also straight-up damned wise about money.

You just don't find that every day -- and especially among the "beautiful" Korean women.
