Would you take this job?
-30 teaching hours per week
-3 night time classes per week, 7pm-9pm
-4 weeks vacation
-no bonus
-no flights paid for
-2.5-2.8m per month
-med and ins. 50/50
Any thoughts? Does this sound a little too much for too little? |

That's insane.
Let's compare to a current public school gig:
2.3
18 hours/week in class
6 weeks vacation
airfare
bonus |

Have to agree with crazy_arcade, there are much better choices out there....
The pay doesn't quite justify the hours (at the uni level, anyways), and there aren't any bonuses. Usually, universities are quite apt at giving bonuses and long vacation time (2+ months a year). |

I'm not sure about the 6 weeks vacation at public school C-Arcade?
But the hours sure are long and the vacation short even if the pay is high.
I just wonder if it is worth doing for a year to then get a better position at another college/university? |

Is housing provided?
It would then be ok with 2.8 plus housing, but the workload sucks. |

Depending on which system you are in 14-21 WORKING days vacation (3-4 weeks) + 2 weeks for a home visit (paid vacation + airfare) if you renew = five to six weeks paid vacation + national holidays + assorted other days off.
Depending on experience, qualifications and supplimental (afternoon) classes (max class load of 28 per week) the salaries can run over 3 million per month + housing (all within the 40 hour, 9-5 work week).
++ airfare, 50/50 pension, 50/50 medical, severance (contract completion bonus).
AND to the OP.... not paying the severance (bonus) is illegal unless you are enrolled in an equivalent private pension plan (allowed at some private universties).

that's even dismal for a unigwon.
that said: it is a step above many, but certainly not all, hagwons.
it really depends what your comparison is with. |

It seems like most univ jobs have more the 4 weeks vacation (at least the one I accepted did). The pay is high, but so is the amount of hours you'd be working. They should pay return airfare and as tom pointed out severence.
I'd say no. |
