I've got a pretty easy office job in Seoul earning over 3 million Won for a standard working day without having to do much overtime. I have no stress at work at all and am able to save money every month.

I've been doing this for nearly two years now, and I'm thinking of going back home and attempting a career change (although my chances of success are by no means guaranteed).

There is nothing that I don't like about my current job except that there are no promotion or career prospects as I am not Korean, and of course, the job is in Korea (although I like Korea a lot and have a lot of friends here, I can't really see myself staying here forever).

So, as I'm now approaching the 2 year mark, I'm thinking of leaving. What does everyone think about this? Would you quit in my position?

I have to be making progress at something at all times or I feel like I'm wasting my life. Once I finish my M.A. I'll start something else, or learn speak Korean ranguagey... or anything... just something to keep me busy and progressing. I am a weirdo though, I admit.

Sometimes you have to challenge yourself, just because you're comfortable doesn't mean life has to be boring. Add some pressure if that's what you're seeking. Learn to tapdance or something.

I do agree with htrain, there has to be something more. Look for an outside interest and if nothing appeals, take the plunge and head home. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." as the old saying goes. Smile

Actually, I'm not bored at all, and I think I have life pretty good in Korea, but I can't help thinking that I could do more elsewhere.

The problem is knowing when you're onto a good thing.

But WHAT will you be doing? That's key to finding your answer.

But does anyone think that this job that I have is too sweet to give up? Sometimes I see people on here asking how they can get a job that pays more than 2-2.5 million, and i already have that, with none of the stress of teaching involved.

Remember when Tarzan swings through the jungle he never lets the jungle rope go before he has a new one in his other hand.

Start looking for a new job back home and if you find something better then let this one go and move. If this takes you a year or even longer then so be it. You have a good deal now but keep your eyes open for something good.

You are in a good place now so there is no rush to change it.

If you know what you want to do back home, give 'er. Korea's not going anywhere.

If I had your job I would never, ever quit. I`d work there until either the company went out of business or they fired me.

How do you know he gets a raise every year? While 3 mil might seem like a lot to a n00b, everyone can do better with luck and the right connections( yes legally).

If I knew I'd only make the equivalent of 3 mil every month for the rest of my life, I'd die a happy man. It is more than enough money for me. It doesn't take much gas to power this machine.

...and having a good job to boot, of course I'd keep that. The fewer hours I work, the more I have time to pursue my own interests (such as writing, and travelling).
