3 hours ago. I drive to work everyday... goddamn Koreans (read "a good number of Koreans") are terrible drivers! Their way of thinking makes zero sense to me. And the stupid little kids wandering back and forth across the frickin' street!. Where's the damn safety elephant to teach these kids that cars hurt!! Especially cars being driven by angry white man.

I can sympathise with you. I've had several near misses already and I've only been driving here for a few months. |

about 10 minutes ago i drove to family mart to buy some superglue.
Seconded about bad drivers here... Keep in mind 1/2 of it is due to poor road/traffic flow system design. |

Yep. This bugs the hell out of me. They see you coming, and still pull out nice and slowly looking at you. And the kids walking across the street, NEAR the crossing, and then stop for a chat with their mates right in front of you in the middle of the road. Don't understand the mentality, and unfortunately don't think I ever will. This is my only gripe with Korea. If they were in England, they'd have been run over, or the person would have got out the car and knocked them out. Sometimes road rage can just let that anger out.
If there's ever an accident:
Why didn't you watch where I was going?
Is the closest I can come out with for an explanation.
Last time I drove, June 2007, not as enamoured with driving as I used to be. Much rather have the luxury of a good bus or train service and being able to have a kip. |

Two weeks ago during Chuseok, while at home for a quick visit. I was surprised at how easy it was to drive in what I'd considered to be heavy traffic before returning to Korea. Plenty of room to manuever, etc. It was nice to be in control again. |

I rented a car on Jeju in June of '06 but before that hadn't driven since coming here in the fall of '02.
I don't miss my 15 years of driving, I even appreciate the simplicity and peacefulness of life without it, except on the occasional nice weekend when a drive in the country sounds great. |

I was here for over almost two years before I got behind the wheel of a car. The thought of driving on the right-hand side freaked me out a bit, but I'm used to it now. I have also started to drive like a local; very little consideration for other road users, swerve to avoid pedestrians and just 'stop and get out' rather than 'parking'.
The funny thing is, at home we have the stereotype of timid, useless Asian drivers. Some of my Korean friends have told me that westerners are useless at parking because they have lots of space and regular carparks in their home countries, so they can't cope with the tight squeezes you have to perform in busy Korean streets. |

I drive a few times per week in Seoul. Believe it or not, after a couple of years driving in Seoul, you get used to it. It seems pretty normal driving now. But, just now and then, someone will do something so dangerous/stupid/unbelievable that you're reminded that you're driving in Asia.
Also, the level of courtesy here is way below where I come from. Some Korean drivers wouldn't let an ambulance full of injured children go in front of them. |

This morning.
As for Korean drivers, they can be a pretty hopeless bunch, but I've seen worse. Nevertheless, I got rear-ended over the weekend whilst sat paying in a covered car park. The car park was empty. |
