Which shift do you like working the most?
Ones that begin in the morning? noon? afternoon? |

afternoon shift
enough time for dinner out with friends afterwards then wind down with a good book or movie before bed
and it gives all morning to do whatever without feeling dogtired (feels like two days in one)
(I don't know how those who work morning shifts handle having most of their free time coming after work: teaching is draining) |

Morning. Although, I hate getting up early, I can nap if I need to, and still have most of the afternoon and all of the evening off to do what I wish. |

I think I prefer the afternoon start. I liked being able to sleep in and then get all of my errands done during the day when I wasn't tired and when the stores weren't crowded. |

i have to punch in at 9:20 am - easy unless i've gone drinking.
last year i did 2-10. on the one hand, you can go out any night of the week. on the other hand, you might find yourself drinking too much. what else can you do at 11pm but go to a hof with coworkers? i have a gf who lives with her parents, so i could only meet her in the morning. going on dates at 11am is weird, and you're always looking at the clock to make sure you're not late for work.
finishing at 4:00 i feel like i have a more normal life. i can go watch a movie in the evening, even go for a quick hike (although it's starting to get darker earlier now). |

Ah, if I have an afternoon class I don't actually get anything done. Morning is for lazing around and not getting out of bed. Morning shift gets me out of bed, and THEN I can get some things done. |

830 start. I don't want to pound beers after work most nights, I can go to the gym after work and wind down afterwards-going to the gym first is not optimal. |

Day and afternoon/night shifts both have advantages and disadvantages... I like to hike or ride my bike and daylight is needed for that so afternoon is good in that sense. However, its nice to get up, go to work in the morning, get it over with, and have the rest of the time free after that... plus its nice to go out to dinner, etc etc in the evening. |

ive done all 3...there's pros and cons to all of them...im a bit of a night owl so i thought i would like the afternoon start but i didnt...
starting in the afternoon and finishing work at about 930..the only thing really to do was drink...which i would do and then sleep in till pretty much 1pm or late and go to work for 3....so i thought i'd get "all my errands done" but that never happened...and i didnt like getting up early and doing things at say 9 or 10am if i didnt have to work till 3 because i would just dread going to work all day and by the time it came i'd have been up for a while and got that mid day slump thing going on...so i think afternoon has a lot of cons...
mornings suck too though if you're a night owl like me....6am comes early.
i think a 10am start is ideal. |
