Thanks, guys. I appreciate the kind words.
Peppermint, I admit this site makes me paranoid. There are so many nasty people on the boards, and Ive had to put up with so much verbal abuse here, that when a new person shows up who appears to have had a past life on Daves, I cant help wondering who it is and what theyre up to. Ill take your word for it that Anyangoldboy isnt Kevin, but please dont expect me to be sunny and friendly to him until Im sure hes not one of those people who's called me the c-word or worse. |

I love all this infighting and drama. It's like reading a soap opera script, but with naughty words and more innuendo.
But, I'm lost. Can someone start at the beginning of the story? |

Sorry ... I'm not that bored yet. You'll have to do your own digging through the archives to catch up.
(Of course you'll have to try to piece the story together and use your imagination to fill in all the stuff that got deleted.)

These guys haven't been banned because they were "mischievous". They were banned because they started invading people's private lives, threatening their families, and doing their best to take down web-businesses, or at least make it difficult for them to be conducted.
The problem is they always manage to find some dolts who don't know any better and play up the "I'm just a misunderstood joker" bit with them.
They're human vermin who have never changed their acts despite the many chances they got, and the bans should remain in place and enforced the second they raise up their socks for all to see.
Any argument otherwise is just ignorance and gullibility.
In other words: Shut up, because you don't know what you're talking about. |

Nobody is saying he shouldn't be banned. I think the mods have handled it fine. This thread is started in response to some of the calls from impatient outraged posters to prevent it happening each time. I think they have unreasonable expectations of the mods. However, it now seems that there has been pressure to start making new restrictions to keep 'Voldemort' out. For example now newbies must post 25 times before they can pm. This won't deter our little voldemort. He has time on his hands and can easily knock out 25 posts before he starts his spamming spree. But it will be annoying for others who just pm. Some people have socks just to pm their friends.
Secondly, the stuff he does here is fairly harmless. It's crazy stupid stuff which is easy enough to ignore. I don't see why anyone has to scream their head off about the mods when such a relatively trivial pest like this rears his head. The mods move fairly fast and do the best they can. I think most reasonable people realise how difficult it is to deal with voldemort.

What?
As far as I know, no one here has suggested Kevin should be welcomed back. I'm also pretty sure it's one person who's been posting spam under many different names. The only "arguments" I've seen about this case have to do with the pros and cons of measures to prevent him from coming back, or to make it more difficult for him to send spam if he does. No one is defending him or the content of his spam. But getting rid of him for good seems to be an impossibility. |

Trolling is an artform. Nothing is worse than a troll who has not fully developed their potential. The secret to effective trolling is to bait the hook well as to ensure a better catch. It's also important not to give away the game too soon. That will only deminish a great potential catch.
Nothing is greater than seeing an effective troll in action. The joy of long hours wasted at a computer. The read faced and fist beatings of the all the people who realize they've just spent four hours in front of a computer just to delight the troll.
My personal favorite is John Gobin Smith. He also goes by numerous other nicks. If you haven't come across this freak of nature than you really don't know what its like to waste a complete afternoon talking absolute drivel and bollocks |

I didn't know that Smith guy, but I've wasted too much time arguing with trolls here. Remember that guy with the transgendered avatar who made a lot of tasteless posts on the CE forum? Whatever happened to him/her?
Also, I often wonder how these people disguise their writing when assuming different personas. Do they run all their "Jekyll" posts through a spell-checker but not bother when writing as "Hyde"? Or do they deliberately edit mistakes into Hyde's work just to confuse people? |
