If you have a Nobel Peace Prize and an Academy Award, why would you ever need to be President?
(Curious, but not enough so to look it up myself...any other such laudees ever elected?) |

The "Myth" just led to a 22% year-on-year reduction in arctic ice.
I don't care that you think such foolishness, I just hope, for the sake of fairness, you own beach property and FEMA does as good a job with you as it did with New Orleans.

JFK had won the Pulitzer (for a book someone else wrote--so they say, I never bothered to check it out).
Teddy Roosevelt was a fairly respected historian when he was elected and picked up the Nobel after.
But I would say an Oscar and a Nobel are pretty top of the line and none of the residents of 1600 can match it. |

It wasn't quite clear, but he was in office when he got the Nobel Peace Prize.
(Less drunk, more curious now...) |

Jimmy Carter has a Grammy to go with his Nobel Prize. |

So do both Clintons and Obama. Big deal!
(Didn't know until tonight you could get a Grammy for an audio book...) |

In a way, that's a powerful argument for him to not run. With what he's accomplishing in his current mode - and with the Nobel, he's in rarefied company - why would he want to descend into the mud of debating line-item vetoes and prescription drugs for seniors with Mitt Romney? He may influence more minds as the town's preacher than as the town's mayor. |

Yes, and I'm no fan of Tipper.
More like let him take over where Carter leaves off. |

| I think this is just an elaborate ploy for Gore to make a run in '08 or '12. |
I'm just counting down until someone comes on here trashing Gore...
ok, someone's gotta do it
my problem with gore is this: why didn't he do anything about global warming when he was the VICE PRESIDENT OF THE USA?!!! i mean talk about 'too little, too late'... i thought they gave nobel prizes to people who DO things instead of just say things... |

Both Clintons, Carter, Obama and Gore all have Emmies? I didn't know any of them did. I have to ask: What about the Republicans? Or is this award-getting just restricted to Democrats?

I agree. My very first reaction (after "Is this a troll post?") was that he'll never run for president after winning this.
To the poster asking why Gore didn't do more when he was VeeP: I think the Clinton administration did a reasonable job on the environment, considering they had a hostile Republican Congress to deal with. (And he was ONLY VeeP.) |

America could probably use a president like Al Gore. Yes, he may not be as personable in some ways as Bush was in 2000, and he was dogged by Clinton's scandal, but he has a lot of experience having served as Vice President, with his family in politics, his prominence on the international stage etc... He has a lot of respect in America. Gore will definitely had a decent legacy in the history books in a positive way. Good for him. |
