My school is in the process of hiring a new teacher. My boss has asked me to correspond with him and answer any questions he may have.

I've been there for a year and have extended for a few months. Of course, there are cultural differences but yesterday something that can't be dismissed as a cultural difference occurred. It was pretty bad and I'm still a bit shocked by the incident.

My dilemma is that before the incident I would have hesitated to recommended anyone to work where I do. Now, I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone to work there. I'm just sticking it out until I can get the eff out. How should I go about warning the new prospect?

Why the heck did you extend you contract if you want to get out so bad?

Just show some backbone and tell the poor guy the truth. Actually, I wish the worker at my former hagwon would have told me the truth.

Also, what was this incident? You can't build that kind of suspense and not tell us.

For some reason I can't PM but it's not in Seoul or any major city in Korea, for that matter. If that helps

just flat out tell him that u don't recommend taking a position at your school. if you're shocked about this after over a year in korea, imagine how someone (probably new to the country) will feel.

All you need to do is say that you are not recommending the school. If you say anything else, you're might be leaving yourself open to slander. You don't have to say why, but you can ask them to not mention to any recruiters or to your boss that you didn't recommend them. I told a candidate once that I wasn't recommending the job, and the twit went and told my boss about it in an email.

The 'diplomatic' thing to do is to explain that you can't in all honesty
recommend the school to anyone after witnessing the violence.

On the other hand you should relate the incident to anyone who will listen.

Tell the guy you wouldn't work there.

I wish the two guys who told me my last hogwon was fine would have done that. I wouldn't've been screwed out over over 2 million won and evicted and left homeless.
