Hi, my first contract here in Korea is up in Decemeber. Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to settle on another contract with my current school so I need to look elsewhere. I wouldn't mind taking anywhere from a month to a month and a half off between contracts. If I want to start in early-mid Feb, when should I seriously start looking Also, is Feb a good start date or would I have better luck by looking for mid-late Jan or early March? Any help would be great, thanks. |

I'd do another year at a Hagwon if I can find one on the up and up. I like the small class sizes in hagwon's. Thanks, I sent a couple of email out a few hours ago just sniffing around, maybe I'll pick up the pace a little. |

bomb,
I think you are better off to start looking now, because you can always turn down stuff if you're not happy with what you are being offered. Just make sure to be specific if you use recruiters as they are usually looking to push people into jobs right away.
The conversation usually goes something like this:
NT: I'm looking for a job in Feburary.
Recruiter: Can you start next week? I have a nice school that will treat you well and they speak good Englishie.
NT: Well I just told you I am looking for something in Feburary.
Recruiter: So you can start next week, good fax me all your stuff and we'll get the paperwork started.
NT: Do you understand English, I can not start until Feburary.
Recruiter: Of course I do, do you want an orangie?
NT: *click* |

i had real trouble trying to look for a job that far in advance...like the above poster said, everyone wants you to start now!!!!
things tend to be left to the last minute here for "nonessentials" like foreign teachers. |

I agree with the above...it can be difficult to find hagwons that prepare that far in advance. By all means, keep your eyes on the lookout, but don't worry if nothing good materialises - the best jobs will appear closer to the time. |

I would say give it another month. I'm looking for a start date of January, and jobs are just now starting to show up on job listings looking for people for end of December/beginning of January. Couldn't hurt to get your resume out to a few recruiters if you plan on using them, but I wouldn't expect a whole lot right now. |
