I have no idea why, but whenever i go to my gf's house i get allergies that last all day. Even after I leave the house I'll sneeze and have a runny nose all day. This has been going on for a year, and I hate to visit her house and parents because of this, because I know that I'll get sick when I go there. Has this happened to anyone else before? |

I have the same problem at one of my student's houses. Doesn't last all day though. I have to remember to bring tissue with me every time I go there. Felt bad asking for theirs every time. |

There aren't any animals, and opening up the windows doesn't help at all. I've wondered about the asbestos as well, since it is an older home |

Some allergies are psychosomatic in origin. Any reason to have a guilty conscience? (If so, please supply details. ) |

I don't think asbestos would cause a runny nose and sneezing.
The problem with asbestos dust is that it is small enough to be inhaled into your lungs, but big enough to get trapped inside your lungs.
I also have a really sensitive nose, and have a runny nose a lot of the time. I also start many mornings sneezing.
I have yet to pinpoint the reason for my affliction, but wearing one of those masks that everybody wears sure does the trick.
I think it keeps the air round your nose nice and warm, but try a mask and especially in the mornings. If I get through the first hour of the day without a runny nose, then my whole day is generally better.
EDIT : Sounds like a dust issue. Be careful not to touch your face. I used to take dust allergy tabs in the UK, but I get many colds here which stop them working. |
