Despite the respectable scale, the festival organizers struggled to justify minor operational mistakes and some critical mismanagement throughout the festival period. The loudest grumbling came from fans who found themselves stranded in downtown Busan due to sudden cancellations of outdoor events.

Also embarrassing for the organizing committee was an incident involving Ennio Morricone, a world-renowned musician known for his famous cinema music. He visited Busan to participate in the opening ceremony, but local media reported that he allegedly got mistreated by the festival staff and, displeased by the lack of respect, he left the festival earlier than expected. PIFF organizers, however, denied that Morricone left the city according to his plans, not because he was offended.

In addition to the Morricone incident, a steady stream of delays and cancellations of events dampened the festive mood. The high-profile Open Talk session featuring Jeon Do-yeon and Kang Su-yeon sparked uproars because its venue changed at the last minute without prior notice.

Your link didn't make it in your post, so here is the part of the article where they mention what happened. Sounds like he got p1ssed and left. And then the organizers just lied to save face.

i missed the whole thing Embarassed

i think the problem is that they aren't used to having someone as stellar as morricone. and he only turned up at the last minute. he played a concert in seoul that week and obviously agreed to come down on the weekend and make an appearance at the film festival

Nobody knows what happened...............I am so curious!

I remember when Tom Cruise came to KOrea. The press were like retards. One guy asked a question like

In Hollywood you are considered short, how do you feel about this?

CRuise got angry.

Some woman asked him Who is more handsome, you or the ice sculptor of you. No joke, they were like retards.

The Pusan fest is becoming a major international event on the fest circuit but it's also coming up against Korean planning skills. The same skills that invariably lead to major concerts being canceled, deaths at concerts for lack of line security, people trying to screw performers out of their money, etc.

Whoever is in charge needs to have the wisdom to step aside and let someone better manage the fest.

He was sick...it was a big media blow up about nothing...

For the real facts look here(along with a great blog) as the guy who writes it is pretty well connected in the korean(and international) movie scene being a writer for the Hollywood reporter and Billboard...

Thanks!

Maybe that was the problem, the driver

Okay, the truth about Morricone, as far as I know. Morricone led a concert in Seoul on Wednesday (Oct. 3) night. He flew down to Busan on Thursday and, despite feeling ill (the dude is 80), he agreed to show up to the opening ceremonies, at least briefly. Morricone was picked up at the airport by one of PIFF's programmers (sadly, without a translator) and driven to his hotel.

I think most of us could piece together the conversation>

DRIVER
Hello

MORRICONE
Ciao!

DRIVER
Uh......did you have lunch.

MORRICONE
Si!

DRIVER
Uh......was it .........delicious..........

MORRICONE
Si. MOlto

DRIVER
Uh......do you like kimchi.....
Do you like Korea.......

do you like korea woman.....

how old are you.......

How much money for you to come here......

Korea has 4 seasons......

Do you like Park ji sung.....

do you know park chan oh.....

MORRICONE

Mama mia, que cavolo voi!!!!!!!

If you guys can find it, another good vid is Elton John freaking out at the airport when he went to Taipei and the Taiwanese press pissed him off by stalking him pretty much. Good stuff.
