Dammit! My naughty baby is laughing and smiling, and seems to have little inclination to sleep. He tricked me into thinking he was about to snooze. But no! And he's laughing his head off, the bugger! Laughing

A lot of the time people complaining about sleeplessness should try skipping their afternoon naps and see what happens.

I slept through the night!! Yeah! If I can do that again tonight that will be heaven. Perhaps baby is finally understanding that night-time is sleep time...

Well, I guess before going home with people after the bar/nightclub you could require them to give you a loonie.

funny, that wakes me up Wink

seriously tho, insomnia can be from a lot of things - i've been one most of my life and learned to live with it - hence my schedule is always preferred to work late so if i'm up for a few hours unplanned i can sleep in

all the same, i've found if you actually have regular insomnia, not just occasional, you'll really need to examine your lifestyle

1) reduce the caffeine in your life - this is the most important - caffeine will really screw with your sleep patterns, and some people are more sensitive than others so don't go by what your pals can drink

2) physical exercise is a must - your body needs to work off stress, anxiety, etc and then be tired to rest properly - really - not just that but you'll sleep better and wake up more alert if your body is in better shape

3) drinking milk does help, it doesn't need to be warm, but try drinking about 8 oz maybe 1 hour before bedtime

4) less sugar - this also stimulates your body to stay awake

5) if you can't sleep after 1/2 hr or so, try getting up and doing something useful - don't fight it you'll just cause more anxiety and stress and more restlessness - use the computer, read a book, wash the dishes, etc. or just call overseas, one of the advantages of being here and awake

keep in mind as we age, especially for women, our hormones change our sleep patterns. take advantage of this and plan more activities to keep yourself ready for sleep. also sleeping a lot several days may actually keep you up for a day or so - just plan something and stay up extra late so you'll be tired and want to sleep.

hope this helps!
