| I brought my laptop and iron with me and can't use them because of the plug sockets here. Where can a get a converter? Do they sell them at regular electronic stores? Also, did anyone else's apartment not have a washer, dryer, couch and TV when they came? There's also not a closet rack to hang my clothes. |

There are many places where you can get plug adapters and power transformers. The transformers tend to use a lot of power and you probably won't need that. Check your laptop power "brick" to see if it is good for 220 volts. If it is, you just need to use a plug adapter. I suggest you get a Korean iron.
Check at your neighborhood hardware store or larger chainstores such as Home Plus, E-Mart, and HomeEver.

Many apartment houses don't have washers in them. There should be a laundry room in the building for the tenants' use. While some places here do have dryers, that particular appliance isn't so popular. In your apartment you should have a rack for drying clothes. The rack may be in your kitchen or it may even be installed outside just under the apartment's kitchen window.

Traditionally, storage of clothing here is by folding the clothes and stacking them in a cubby hole. You can get basic racks on the cheap.
If you're working for a hagweon, all they will provide to you is what is specifically mentioned in the contract. Ensure you contact your manager as soon as possible and as often as possible until you get the stuff.
If you're on the EPIK program, you're in a better position. You get an allowance to furnish the apartment. You take a form from the Finance Office, go to the shops where you intend to buy whatever you wish to buy, list the item data (what it is, make and model, and price), tally everything up, and return the form to the Finance Office. They'll approve the purchases up to the contractual limit and give you the school credit card to go get the stuff. You then make copies of the receipts and give the originals to the Finance Office. |

| Nah, there isn't a laundry mat anywhere nearby. But my boss told me that he's getting me a washer and dryer, so that is pretty cool. Where are the black market areas where I can get stuff super cheap near Busan? |

The only places I've seen laundromats here is on the US military bases. I was sad when Camp Hialeah closed last year. So your building doesn't have a washing machine in a common room? That's rough.
Go to one of the chain department stores, like Home Plus or E-Mart. You can get an iron there quite cheaply and there won't be any issues regarding the plugs.
I wouldn't purchase a single thing at all on the Black Market. |

| All you need to use your laptop is a little plastic plug adaptor. Like poster number 2 said, go to a hardware store and buy one for a buck. |
