Tiger Beer I'll still be posting from Phuket so the thread will live on.

Sounds like a good vacation.. one month, huh? then back to Pohang for December? Right in time for some snowball fights.. can't miss that. Do you get snow in Pohang?

I'll be in Bangkok in December.. for about 8 days.. first week of this month.. then back to Seoul to finish out this contract..

Ya Tiger Beer, I'm going to take my TESOL certificate. Originally I was going for two months and check out Cambodia and Vietnam, but my plans changed so that I am going two weeks early with my girlfriend and then a month in Phuket for the course. Have to hit the rest of SE Asia another time.

Snowed twice in Pohang last winter. The weather is almost identical to what I am use to in Vancouver.

[CEBU!! Thats the place I want to go.. I went to Luzon (that big island with Manila).. as well as Mindoro (the one with Puerto Galera).. but actually VISAYAS is where I want to go next time.

So how is Cebu? beautiful women, women with sense of humors.. ah yes, Filipinas love to smile laugh and tell jokes.. and tease.. a fun tease.. not the sexual tease.. that they take serious.. Wink

So you are hanging around Cebu for how many days? and how many days in Visayas? and how many in Philippines?
Ok i'm still in cebu because a very important man has set time aside to talk with me tomorrow (a future plan for here). I like it because the taxi drivers are honest, its just a given your gonna get burned in Manila. And, I haven't seen any white people. Like none, nada, nought, I'm the only honkey in Cebu right now. To be honest, manila scared me a little after coming from "sterileville" korea (no slight toward pohang intended), and the foreigners I met where all old pervs.

However poverty is endemic here and you have to retain a very paranoid mindframe where ever you go. This country has everything tourism and resource wise, it sucks what hundreds of year of colonisation and corruption does to any 3rd world country.

The lonely planet lists only central city hotels, good for amenities, but it seems all the action takes place about 5 k's out of town. I haven't hit the bars yet, but had a good little session with my hotel Janitor last night. There is Octoberfest on here all week, so will plug in tomorrow for the low down on the bar seen.

Yeah, the women.wow. I'd seen pictures of filipino women and they never really spun my wheels, but in the flesh they are very beautiful. Apparently the Cebuanas are renown for there beauty because of ......ahem.....those bloody spanish colonists mixing it up with the ladies of cebu old. But they are great, all the ladies Iv'e dealt with, whether they be at the airport, hotel, shop, or pc bang are always cool for a joke and a smile....and a flirt
Am off to Bohol on friday and just kickin round the Visayas for 3 weeks. No cars in Boracay, that sounds great. Have no desire to see Luzon as yet, but would like to check out Mindanao.

Um this is the Pohang thread so to keep on topic..... There is another Malboro bar in Pohang if you walk from the post office to the chicken man, cross the road, walk straight about 400 meters you'll see it. I believe that it is a magic place. A kind of parallel universe going on in Pohang.

That's half the problem...she didn't do anything about a replacement until last week and she obviously didn't think about my leaving until this afternoon. She's driving me nuts. I wish I some great excuse to give her so that i could leave when she originally told me I could.

Good thinking peppermint, but I was a little slow on the draw and missed my chance for a good excuse.

Oh and another thing about Pohang that just blows my mother fucking mind is... (creating diversion to keep on the thread topic.. but.. okay changeover time)..

inexhile wrote:

Thats another cool thing about the Philippines.. always some kind of festival going on all of the time.. hmm.. also, interesting about Octoberfest.. by the way, have you seen many Germans yet? Seems to be tons of them throughout the Philippines. (Maybe they're at the real thing in Germany though - maybe Philippines Octoberfest is a tourism ploy to keep them from going home) Wink

Yeah, some Filipinas are attractive and some aren't. I didn't find the ones in Luzon to be all that special. However the ones in California are jaw-dropping gorgeous.. and being they have the money to be emigrating or study and work visas and such.. most likely they are more of the mixed blood ones.

The other cool thing about Cebu is its probably the most 'multi-cultural'.. (actually everywhere in the Philippines is).. but its moreso in the sense that something like 15-20% are of Chinese origin.. as well as alot of Spanish descendent blood..

No cars in Boracay sounds nice.. I was not crazy about the jeepneys or the many exhaust pipes spewing something or another.. hmm.. would like to hear about Bohol as well..

Whenever I have a good chunk of time I'd like to spend about 5-6 weeks entirely in Visayays.. island-hopping.

Oops... got a little off topic. So in Pohang.. did you ever meet or see any Filipinos?

P.S. if you want to fix the quotes.. just hit the 'edit' button.. and type this in at the beginning of my quoted words:
and also make sure at the end of my quote says
if you want to fix it. (Just since I saw you made a new post mentioning it).
