I'm pretty bad with computers. I checked the windows specs for my DVD player on my computer. It says it is a:

HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H12N

I believe it is LG.

My question is whether this can burn DVDs that can be played by a DVD player that is used for TVs.

And if so, how do I go about doing this? What format do DVD players recognize?

I believe it should work, as long as you burn it in NTSC format you will be okay.

Different DVD players accept different formats. Some players let you view JPEGS, Divx, SVCD, etc.

If you're trying to make a 'DVD' then it's easiest to choose your favorite burning program (Ahead Nero, Roxio EasyCD Creator, etc) and choose the option to create a DVD. The program will then transcode your .AVI, .MOV, etc to the proper format/folder structure for DVDs.

There are no "guaranteed" ways to make a DVD+/-R work in a player. Every player is finicky. But always verify and try to burn at a slower speed. It helps avoid making coasters.

And sites like CDFreaks have a ton of tutorials and tips.

Download DVD Santa from a torrent site. It's a great program that's basically idiot proof!

I use DVDSanta almost exclusively for DVD burning. Nero for CDs, and Alcohol for game cds/dvds.

What is DVD Santa? I have been burning DVD's using NERO. They play on my computer, but will not play on a DVD player.

I have looked on the internet for DVD Santa, and I find Santa movies.
