Can it be done in a day?
I've read the other threads about the card but didn't see anything on how long the process actually takes. I ask because I'm leaving for Beijing this Friday and returning the 23rd, and leaving for Bangkok on November 7th. |

Normally they'll put it on a stack and it'll take a while, but if you PLEAD with them and explain your situation, they can do it on the spot. Took 5 minutes when I lost mine in 2004 and was leaving for winter vacation the following day. |

This is the first time I'll have applied for the card. Would this make a difference? |

Depending on which office you are at it can take from 4-10 days for your registration and 1st card.
You cannot get a re-entry permit without your ARC. If you leave without a re-entry permit (and if you do NOT have a multiple re-entry visa) you will void your work visa.
Head to the immigration office and plead your case. Show your ticket and HOPE they will do it that same day for you. It can be done.

Yes, we bribed them I'm almost positive. It was so totally obvious but I wasn't an eyewitness. Got it couriered to the school in less than 24 hours....they had about 12 shoeboxes full of passports ahead of me. My schools owner happened to be present on they day it arrived, a rare visit and he seemed very unimpressed but the other guy I went with needed his passport immediately to take a special trip someplace for the school. So, normally it takes a week, but money talks. You're supposed to flash a 100,000 WOn discretely then put it into your passport before you give it to them FYI. But I never told you this. Somebody else did, OK? |

I recently got my ARC and it took a week. I didn't ask for a rush on it. Went to the office in Jongno...not the one in Mokdong. |

i'm in daejeon and it took a week for mine...however i went a picked mine up personally...my buddy got his in 3 days courier...so it all depends on how busy they are...remember its korea and nothing is ever set in stone, bring your tickets and plead your case, if you get someone in a good mood, you'll get your way... |
