hi,

i lost my ID card and iv heard that I can get it replaced in Jinju, my city. Iv looked on the internet and have had no luck with finding any information. does anybody have any ideas, and also what do i need to bring with me and how long will it take to get back to me? I do have a photocopy of the card, does this make the process easier.

thanks for the help. Very Happy

OK first clarify what you are talking about. Is it your ID card from your home country, or your foreigner registration card.

- For the former: From your country's consulate.

- For the latter : from the nearest immigration office. When I lost mine they only asked for my passport. Procedure normally takes 3 days, but they did it in 5 minutes in a pinch.

Bring your passport, the p/c, a passport photo, current address, work address(for those forms you always have to fill out) and some money. Your alien card should have your address on it so someone may post it back to you.

To replace your ARC you simply need your passport, 10k won and possibly a police report for the lost ARC.

Go to your local immigration office (I am not sure which office has jurisdiction in your area), fill in the application for a replacement, pay your 10k won and USUALLY wait around for 15-30 minutes.

They print a new one off and send you on your way.

I have heard (heresay) that SOME offices will make you wait for a replacement (3-10 days) but I have never had that experience (I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes for a replacement) or known anyone else who has either.
